Re: Never thought I would see the day that....

The circus continues.... 1. Unvaccinated Parliamentarians forbidden from entering Parliament to vote. 2. This legislation tabled at 6PM Friday and going to the vote :o https://www.3aw.com.au/why-neil-mitchell-thinks-victorias-proposed-new-pandemic-laws-are-just-plain-dangerous/ Memories.... https://...

Re: Anyone investing in farmland?

Ex-country Yokel here :D Personally I wouldn't touch a Farm REIT with a ten foot barge pole. Buy some small acreage yourself and lease it out instead. I have seen many of these "investments" collapse first hand eg. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-10-17/timber-investment-schemes-leave-hundreds-witho...

Re: Australian stock index returns (daily or monthly) - a question

Hmm.. Don't know of any specific compiled source, but you could try going to the Internet Archives site and have a look at some old Australian newspapers stock market pages. The site is down for maintenance at the moment so can't check further. https://web.archive.org/web/*/newspapers https://www.nm...

Re: The Vinny Portfolio

I think that represents about all I've done for the last 40 years when it comes to investing. I know that I could have had a much larger portfolio if I'd invested some of all those investments of the last 19 years into equities rather than just cash but I see that I'm actually too high weighted in ...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

What good is having assets abroad if you can't leave the country? Or enter the country where you have it stored. I think HB might cross the Perth Mint off the list of safe places for storage. Agree totally. Things have changed so much in Australia over the past 2 years I would ABSOLUTELY NOT use th...

Acting Senior Sergeant Krystle Mitchell is a sworn member of the Victoria Police in Australia. She has served Victorians for 16 years as a police officer including...

Re: Bill Kristol and Scott Horton Debate U.S. Interventionism

This question is timestamped for Hal. It's a question I've been meaning to ask you. Good one! ;) Well in Victoria the Parliament is suspended due to a "state of emergency". So if they suspend the election as well, yes, I would be more than happy if the US applied sanctions/political pressure. Looks...

Just resurrecting this thread ;) Wondering if you have any suggestions for a friend. Situation is... 1. Looks like he will lose his job due to mandated vaccination (background only; up to him & his family) 2. Asked what he should do with his retirement fund. Being actively managed. 3. Has very littl...

30% cash in a near zero interest rate environment and stated inflation running at over 4% ?? Cash is kind of like an option on future assets, and one has to pay a premium for options.
