Found Aus PP fund

Hello All, While I run my own PP this may be useful for people who do not have the time or inclination. Perhaps useful for SMSF's ? http://corcapital.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Monthly_Report_March-2019_v2_1.pdf http://corcapital.com.au/Cor_Capital_Fund-Rating_Report-13-7-2015.pdf Check out T...

Re: Cash in an inverted bond market

From Benjamin Graham in "The Intelligent Investor" <snip> Savings Deposits in Lieu of Bonds An investor may now obtain as high an interest rate from a savings deposit in a commercial or savings bank (or from a bank certificate of deposit) as he can from a first-grade bond of short maturity. The inte...

The more I study, the happier I am with the PP

Interesting Economics talk. Note how a slightly wrong assumption destroys the model. The PP, relying on fundamentals, looks even better now compared to more complex asset allocation models. Also note the reference to Contrarian Investing near the end of the presentation https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: Figuring Out Religion

Well, I am by no means a bible scholar, however I thought that when someone died it was no different to an animal dying. It was only if God was happy with your life, that a "reward?" was granted. https://biblehub.com/ecclesiastes/3-19.htm I could never reconcile some telling me "God is love" while o...

Re: FDIC risk

They have a similar thing to the FDIC in Australia, but there's a catch. The Deposit Guarantee is activated when a bank fails "but" if the newly legislated "bail in" is activated and the bank is saved, then since the bank has not failed, the deposit guarantee is not activated. Neat trick :o Do you h...

Funny car advertisement

Stumbled upon this old ad from 20 years ago.
Actually had one of these - lasted about 750,000 Kms before someone ran a stop sign and wrecked it :(

How does the PP respond to a devaluing currency

First off, thanks to LazyInvestor for his earlier posts on Non-US PP's. I had to re-evaluate some preconceptions! Now after listening to all of HB's radio shows I understand that: 1, In severe, say > 5 to 10% inflation, in a US PP, funds flow from the USD into the next most popular form of money whi...

Re: Old HB radio show about Gold

This is a critical point. That's why in a number of my previous posts I encouraged non-US investors to stick with a Bogleheads portfolio if they are not willing to run US PP. In recent times, USD was strengthening and gold was not of much help for anyone from Venezuela to Canada. Most of non-US inv...
