Re: Is It Time For PRPFX To Shine?

Does anyone recall any postings showing the annual results of a pairing of PRPFX with EDV or TLT (say 90/10 or 85/15)?

I thought I had seen one or two, but can't seem to find them.

Re: Sprott Intends to Make Exchange Offers for Central GoldTrust and Silver Bullion

Well, all of my GTU holdings are in retirement accounts so I plan to accept the tender offer.  I have no tax issues.  I have always tried to buy gold as directly as possible.  Over many years, the problem of the dearth of viable gold retirement account vehicles became one of the more vexing problem...

Re: Stock Pickers and tech trend watchers: The Economist on Intel vs. ARM

Wow, it looks like Storm has done really well with ARM Holdings (ARMH) if he held on. I couldn't get the custom chart to work today in yahoo, but looking at the 5YR chart for ARMH vs INTC, it's a smackdown. I think he did a lot better in Bitcoins. Speaking of Bitcoins, I highly recommend the book D...

Re: War on Gold and the Financial Endgame

Can't resist sharing this funny Q & A from Scott Burns ' regular column in the Dallas Morning News: Scott Burns is a really good guy.  Going back almost 20 years, I would occasionally send him comments regarding his columns and he always came back with friendly and helpful replies. Later on, he hel...

Re: PP ....Where Did It Go

This forum is plenty active, but I think that by and large, all the tough questions about the PP itself have been answered to a good enough standard that there's no reason to go over things again and again. At this point, the forum is pretty much a honeypot for highly intelligent people to talk abo...

Re: Some perspective: PP vs Boglehead 50/50 portfolio

Whenever I feel like backsliding, I listen to CS&N's "Almost Cut My Hair" and run etfplay.com using GLD,TLT,VTI,SHY @ 25% each vs VBINX from 1/1/2007 to current...  That also doesn't take into account rebalancing but it does show why I like the HBPP in potentially troubling times... Yeah, my reacti...

Here is something I posted early last year relating to drivers of gold investment demand.  Just my two cents.....

Re: It's all about China

MomTo2Boys, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your perspective on China.  Much to admire, much to question.  Having lived Latin America as a child, and now as a retired USG employee that dealt with foreign officials over a host of monetary/economic issues, I think few Americans really a...

Re: 30/60/10 vs HBPP

I think many of the comparisons here that span the 1960s to early 1980s are a little unrealistic as they don’t comport with the reality that was faced by most small investors during that period.  Few individual investors would have been able to cost-effectively benefit from the returns in “intermedi...

Re: Gold Price Since 2001

There must have been a thread or three about this already but I haven't seen anything yet... Absent dramatic inflation here in the US in the last 30 plus years, why did gold go so high in the period between 2001 & 2012? Loss of confidence in the US Dollar? Inflation outside of the US? Jim Rickards ...
