By the way, the money of mainland China is the Renminbi (RMB). Yuan is a sub-unit. Think of it as Dollars and Cents.
You'll learn a lot more about RMB and China's central bank if you google the proper name.

Re: Earthing : Perhaps one of the greatest discoveries, ever
Nope. Grounding devices and anti-static devices are not the same thing... The difference between grounding and static discharge is that grounding instantly equalizes your body at Earth’s potential. Static discharge, generally called a soft ground or a dissipative ground, has an inline 1 meg ohm res...

STRIPS or ZEROS aka STRIPPED or ZERO COUPON bonds tend to be more volatile since they do not pay interest. They have different tax ramifications and a somewhat different risk profile. The question of their suitability has been discussed many times. I have not seen a good discussion as to whether or...

Re: Will the U.S. government ever have difficulty servicing its own debt?
Will it have difficulty getting buyers for bonds? Will it have to print massive amounts of money and cause a lot of inflation? Will higher interest rates make further borrowing more difficult? I believe those questions fairly accurately define the box in which the U.S. gov't is contained. The size...

Re: Details of selling sealed gold bars
Dealers get pretty good at recognizing good stuff especially in small, familiar packages. You handle 1oz coins or bars in familiar packages and something bogus stands out. Sure, I can imagine a pretty good fake. But fakes are easier the larger the piece. A fake 1oz coin or bar? Tough to make it...

So, how do we explain a 10-year yield at 3%? Isn't it in the Fed's best interest to keep rates low during a time of economic recovery? Not the Fed's interest. Gov'ts or possibly my grandchildren's, but not the Fed's. And yes, low rates can be construed as part of the mandate of the Fed. One part....

Oh, good gravy. All our money (except coins) comes from debt — not taxes. In our monetary system, you can't pay taxes without debt/credit-based money existing in the first place. Period. That's nonsense. Repeating it does not make it any more real. The gov't is not required to go into debt. That'...

Do you consider 2008 to have been a disaster? 2008 would be no more than an inconvenience. It was very widespread, but its impact was minimal. Yes, some people had it pretty rough but I don't think "personal disaster" is particularly meaningful. Compare 2008 to Sandy hitting NYC. And S...

Re: Anyone put their emergency fund in the PP?
I no longer have my emergency fund as part of my PP. Why: My PP is entirely within a tax-deferred IRA so there is no good way to get that cash should it be needed. If not for that, I would count my cash (everything but the checking account) as part of my PP. Before I rolled my 401(k) into that IRA,...

Right now delays are typically production related - mints are turning big bars into the smaller products as fast as they can get the big bars and run them thru the mill. I prefer drop ship (where producer ships directly to me instead of to retailer who then ships to me) arranged via a broker, e.g. C...
