Re: Found Aus PP fund

Good find. It's nice to know there is still interest in PP funds among fund sponsors.

Great post! Kevin, are you the same Kevin who frequents the Boglehead site? If so, are you a Boglehead or a PP guy?
Thanks; and no, that's someone else on Bogleheads.

Re: How to withdraw cash in retirement?

This is one of these subjects where any thoughtful plan should work fine, so you might as well do whatever you find most comfortable and convenient. An everyday-expense checking account is so small relative to the portfolio that I don't think it matters very much whether it is considered inside the ...

Re: Gyroscopic Portfolios Is Now Under Construction

Glad you appreciate the site and the suggestions. I view the Golden Butterfly as a 4x25 PP plus a variable portfolio of small-cap value. This is compatible with PP dogma for an investor who wants to tilt toward prosperity. I think the GB is fine and I don't think I'd try to talk someone out of it. I...

Re: Gyroscopic Portfolios Is Now Under Construction

Thanks for this effort, it's off to a great start. It'd be nice for this site to reprise Craig's tradition of an annual post on the PP's annual returns, with an explanation for why each of the four assets did what it did, and comparison to a couple benchmarks. Another useful resource would be a list...

Re: GLDM - 0.18 exp. ratio 'Gold minishares'

GLDM and AAAU are tied with respect to expense ratio, at 0.18%. Does anyone have an argument for why one is better than the other?

Re: IAU is now commission-free at Fidelity

Wow, between this, FZROX, and the T-bill auto-roll feature, Fidelity is looking like a great broker for PP investors.

Re: Which Assets in Roth IRA?

There are two schools of thought, either "one big PP spread among all accounts" or "one separate 4x25 in each account." When I started out I did "one big PP" but later changed to "separate 4x25". Both approaches work fine and have their merits, so I think this is really a personal preference thing. ...

Re: Best Allocation: Living off just the interest

The question was whether or not a HBPP or GB should theoretically have a different weighting (primarily in its cash component) as it scales due to its underlying principles since a very wealthy person would be at less risk of liquidating lagging assets to make ends meet during a recession. No, acco...

Re: Is the PP going to hold up?

I propose a portfolio which is a traditional permanent portfolio mix with a bitcoin variable portfolio sidecar. Hows: 24% gold 24% cash 24% stocks 24% long term bonds 4% bitcoin Turns out the back testing is amazing. Ill need your help with the name. How about the "Fifth Element Portfolio"? ~~~ Mom...

Re: Options in 401k when i cannot implement PP

The ETF picks look good. I hold IAU for my paper gold.

IMO, 30/70 total stock/total bond is a solid portfolio where the PP is unavailable.
