Re: Who won the debate?
My impression is that the debate did nothing other than reinforce the predisposition each viewer had going in. Does anyone think it was pivotal enough to change anyone's mind? Emblematic of politics today in general, I surmise we each heard exactly what we wanted to hear. I also get the impression ...

Re: Why are you afraid of if the “other” party wins?
This is oftentimes stated. However it did not seem to be evident in last night's debate. Maybe in Trump, though? Can you as a medical person explain how Trump supplying "goggles" helped reduce the spread of the virus? Vinny I am not a medical professional of any kind and will certainly de...

Re: Watch Out for the Elder Fraud Web
When my parents hit their 90's the scammers started hitting them non-stop. Usually it was in the form of a phone call trying to get information from them by telling them they had won some money and either needed to pay a fee to collect the winnings or give them their bank account number so they cou...

Re: Safety Deposit Box Insurance
If you're going to go with a storage service like Hard Assets Alliance, look carefully at the numbers. It's not just about the storage fee. They don't allow you to store gold you already own, you have to buy it from them. And, their prices are higher than you can find elsewhere (e.g. Colorado Gold)...

Re: Safety Deposit Box Insurance
You might consider, rather than insuring bullion in a safety deposit box, something like Hard Assets Alliance (https://hardassetsalliance.com/). Their storage fees are the same for all vaults: 0.7%/year of average daily asset value for gold, platinum, and palladium, and 0.8%/year for silver, or low...

Re: Could gold ever be banned again?
I have been pondering if allocating a certain percentage of one's portfolio to silver might be worthwhile. While I think gold is probably a superior hedge, it could be that silver might not be as likely to be confiscated - it wasn't confiscated in the 1930's. Neither gold nor silver is currently us...

Re: RPAR vs. PRPFX?
Thank you! I had not seen that article and it actually does help to think about RPAR as something of a hedge fund. That had not really occurred to me.Kevin K. wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 2:17 pm Good article on RPAR:

Re: RPAR vs. PRPFX?
It looks like a permanent portfolio that trusts the govt and doesn't believe gold is money. Then you have to pay extra for their management fees. Thank you for those thoughts. You know, I did not even look at the management fees so I am going to go check them out. I suppose that really is an advant...

Re: RPAR vs. PRPFX?
I have benefited quite a bit from this forum over the last week or two and now have a question: have any of you evaluated the RPAR ETF? Would it be close to PRPFX? Thanks. Hi Jim, Had a quick look at RPAR and it appears to use a different methodology to the PP. Good that it has physical gold. Perha...
