Re: Best Low Cost ETF for Cash

Why not just buy actual T-Bills and hold them to maturity. At Charles Schwab in my IRA it's free to buy any duration of Treasury Issuance, both at auction, or on the secondary market. When I had a 401k, it had a SDA where I could've done the same thing. Maybe if you have an SDA in your 401k you coul...

Re: US GSGB - US Goldsmith Golden Butterfly

belangP on YT @ evidence based wealth Channel would beg to differ on the merits of 35% gold bullion. He makes a pretty good case for a 65/35 Equity Gold Portfolio.
It's not for me, but he's a pretty sharp & compelling Guy and his channel is pretty cool.

I find the Golden Butterfly has better characteristics, it has had more shallow drawdowns, and also supports higher withdrawal rates in retirement.
I agree, but backtesting being what it is...who knows.

Re: A worthwhile read for all PP'ers

Bitcoin will go down in history as the biggest Ponzi Mania of all time IMO. The only thing that I worry about with regard to my HBPP is that these central planning mindf*cksters will disallow my ability to maintain a PP going forward. This is what keeps me awake at night. Re: Dragon Portfolio

I see portfolios such as this Dragon Portfolio as attempts to overcomplicate and fix things that don't need to be tinkered with. Yes, it's a proprietary portfolio and, of course, only the proprietor can implement and run it for you and to further complicate, one would have to be an accredited inves...

Re: A worthwhile read for all PP'ers

Bitcoin will go down in history as the biggest Ponzi Mania of all time IMO. Do you realize how many naysayers have bashed the HBPP since inception and they always start with the "I like the PP. BUT..." The only thing that I worry about with regard to my HBPP is that these central planning mindf*ckst...

More likely IMO (cue Dr. Lacy Hunt) that we have disinflation or outright deflation because of debt, demographics and M2 money velocity decreasing and not staying constant, or increasing like the 70's. This is a very different animal. You can read Dr. Hunt's Quarterly Report on Hoisington for free ...

Just started implementing PP strategy.  Thanks for the feedback. Instead of plunking a huge amount of $ into TLT and IAU at one time, wouldn't it make sense to buy on dips or dollar avg cost into each investment? It's a bit like a parachute jump my friend. ;) If dollar cost averaging worked better ...

Here's my opinions for portfolios up to about $5M. Gold - physical coins, insured, kept in a safe deposit box (multiple boxes at different banks).  If banks stop allowing gold in safe deposit boxes then gold is an issue.  IMO, home storage even in a safe cemented to the floor is crazy.  I haven't l...

Re: Are We Living Under Communism?

Has it already happened? It seems that our elections are stolen, the media is Pravda, and the DOJ/FBI/CIA/NSA are all politicized. Is all lost? No, we're not living under Communism, but we are living in a neo fascist economy (and have been for quite some time) & and you're starting to see the polic...

Re: Most Secure Way to Reasonable Hold PP Assets??

Stock - low cost mutual fund (not ETF) What's your reasoning for preferring mutual funds over ETFs? Mutual funds have fewer moving parts, and specifically their pricing mechanism is simpler.  The price of a mutual fund is the daily NAV.  The price of an ETF is whatever anyone is willing to pay for ...

Pinwheel is for Pinheads >:D Seriously, it might be a great portfolio. It might beat everything else going forward for the next two decades, or longer. How does one avoid all asset classes?
I meant to not bet on any one Asset Class disproportionately. If there was ever a time for holding one's core assets in a PP, or a PP like portfolio, it's probably right about now.

Jakob Fugger Portfolio

One of the richest Men in all history. Lived from 1459-1525 aka "Jakob the Rich".

25% Business (Equities)
25% Gold Coin
25% RE (REITS)
25% Sovereign Debt

Sound Familiar... maybe he was HB's inspiration. Kinda like I suspect that ol' Ray Dalio got his inspiration from HB.
