Re: Universal PP

Local currency hedge have to be well taken into account, IMHO. See EUR/USD in the recent months. While its not the wildest swing ever seen, it definitely is a game changer in a way that brings extra unknown variable in the PP equation set - nothing more, nothing less ... Regarding bonds - I would ag...

Re: Armenia-Azerbaijan

The way small countries like Armenia and Azerbaijan are used like bargaining chips and for testing the 'powers' of the big-brothers (Russia vs Turkey vs other ex-Turkey NATO members) is simply disgusting...

Re: Solar & Survival?

But not "dead"! Will jump in your thread like the Roman cavalry ;) For some sensitive devices (as safe boxes, which would otherwise require tricky way of getting energy from external power supply) I am using Duracells with PowerCheck technology - that way I can easily check their health any time an...

Re: European PP - short bonds

What would you suggest for DJ? Well, I do not want anyone to follow blindly anything I am doing. I was standing behind my personal opinion that EU-PP might not behave as well as US-PP, given the role of USD as world reserve currency, having the relations of Gold, the ability of US Fed to decide sol...

Re: European PP - short bonds

That said, I would still hold a Bond ETF vs having it in the bank. ... DJ, I had my funds in a State Government owned bank which collapsed in the 1990's. It was only because the Federal Government purchased the bank, Have been through that, but in my case the bank (Corporate Commercial Bank in Bulg...

Re: Ray Dalio on Bonds

I think it is pretty obvious that at some point you will inevitably need to #1 raise taxes, #2 reduce spending, AND #3 export the debt via inflation. You could avoid #1 OR you can avoid #2, but you CANNOT avoid #3. There is no other way outside of default. Yup, that reminds me on this exact point f...

Re: European PP - short bonds

It seems that I will repeat myself again here, but based on my modest experience non-US PP are far from working decently. Just see the numbers/graphs (as you do) .. Italian, Spanish, .. bonds - no thanks. Gold relation to Euro inflation - pfew.. International diversification - pfew, you (possibly) g...

Re: Stock scream room

But either way, I see the election being an "event" that will cause the market to roll over regardless of the winner. It's either going to be an oh shit, Biden is president and he's going to lock us down or oh shit, Trump is president and people are going to keep dying. Makes sense :D And indeed, I...

Re: YouTube Junkie

8BIT WIZRD - Backed Down https://youtu.be/DzydFV2QB_A As you are discussing X-bit music ;) , there is a nice album from AEPHANEMER, named Memento Mori. To be honest, I like its 8-bit version even more than the 'real' one. Original is kind of symphonic metal (?), though the 8-bit version is really f...

Re: VRIF: Vanguard Retirement Income ETF

Good question. I don't see it on the ETF info page either. It was in their product announcement though. Yup, might be that's their good will for the time being, as they say - 4% yield at launch ... I do not have good insights on this particular topic, but just wondering what would happen in the nea...
