Re: I know who I will be voting for President!

I know who I will be voting for President. Dean Phillips is so far beyond any present (or recently dropped out) presidential candidate. I cannot believe that someone of his quality is actually running. The two major parties should be ashamed of themselves for each having frontrunners so unworthy of...

One thing about Texas... most of the knowledge workers are NOT from Texas, even in the oilpatch. The modern Oil & Gas industry is very high tech. At least half of us immigrated to Texas for money and jobs. Texas does a pretty bad job of educating its native sons and daughters when you get right...

I have no regrets going all in on the PP in late 2010 and sticking with it since then. It has had a modest CAGR of 5.0% over that 13-year period, with a max negative return of -11.9% in 2022. It has allowed me to mostly shrug off market turmoil and sleep soundly as I focus on working and accumulati...

Switching gears, surely if one believes American exceptionalism is coming to an end there are any number of portfolios one could choose to hedge against it. Holding only globally-diversified stocks, market cap weighted (e.g. a blend of 60:40 VTI:VEU or simple the all-world ETF VT) plus an appropria...

2. What did Disney have to gain by doing this? They are probably not going to gain any new customers with their stance but almost certain to lose some. Therefore, they should be admired for taking a stand, something that almost all other businesses / corporations will never do. I can well understan...

Government needs to be shrunk/obstructed/gridlocked by any means necessary. If thats not what "republicans" are doing here, then its bad. Why? If you look at places with larger governments vs places with high HDI it seems that there is a correlation. This doesn't mean that having bigger g...

Thank you, I see the distinction now. And I agree, to a point. The 1980s was a grand experiment in trickle down economics, and while the idea hasn't been totally discredited, I think there are differing opinions on whether enough trickled down such that society as a whole was lifted. I'm kind of gl...
