Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Blue IL is 'reviewing' CDC guidelines and figuring out how to change guidance. Why? They should just say okay we're done, but they refuse. I think they are saying they will follow the national recommendations. They are saying it, but not doing it. What is there to review? If you are 'following the ...

Re: Rebalancing into more LTT

Sure, you could take any three year period and figure out which of the four assets had performed worst during that period, and if you take that asset out, the portfolio would have performed better. That's inevitable. I'm not sure what you're trying to say. The hard part is figuring out which asset ...

Re: Rebalancing into more LTT

One thing to remember about the PP is that it's meant to be a portfolio that will perform reasonably well over the long term without much attention being paid to it. In other words, if I get busy and don't get a chance to check on the percentages and rebalance for two or three years, it's not going...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Here in CA, people are still masking hard since the state mandate is still in effect. Went to Home Depot and the grocery store yesterday, and both stores still had the “masks required” sign at the entrance. 100% of people still masked up. On the drive back home, I also saw a young woman in her 20s ...

But your comments implying you're on a forum full of lemmings with no idea what they're investing in don't add much to the conversation in my opinion. I have followed all the relevant posts and I cannot find anywhere mathjak107 suggested that people who disagree with his take on LTTs are “lemmings....

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Interesting development this evening. I'm currently in SoCal, Palm Desert. Biden tweeted today "The rule is now simple: get vaccinated or wear a mask until you do." The place where I had dinner this evening interpreted this as the servers no longer need to wear masks. The place was packed, cheek to...

Re: CDC Taken Over By Alt Right Influences?

It’s impossible to be alive in America in 2021 and not be bombarded by alt right news in the media. Everything from the Big Lie about the election to climate change denialism to anti-vaxxing propaganda is everywhere. Yesterday’s reckless decision by the CDC to allow going indoors without a mask is ...

Also, I'm surprised how much confidence people have here in central banks to create inflation. We haven't seen it in Japan or Europe and so far the Fed despite big talk has missed their targets for over a decade. The latest spurt is more supply chain related than anything else. https://www.lynalden...

Re: Rebalancing into more LTT

Yeah but ITTs don't move like my zeros did when covid hit. As I have mentioned over and over the rebalance from long bonds to stocks during that event was huge. All these little moves are noise. Based on all the LTT doomsdaying here my guess is we will see a pop there within the next few months...j...

https://www.today.com/food/mcdonald-s-encouraging-customers-get-vaccinated-t218032 I just don't understand the thinking behind this. Does anybody take health advice from (of all organizations) McDonald's? Does anybody think that people SHOULD get health advice from McDonald's? Further, does anybody...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

I agree with you that there will certainly be a resurgence in the fall/winter. The question is during the next 5 months, will society and the media have moved on enough not to care? By that time will testing of healthy people be a thing of the past so that the only Covid cases are people actually i...

But why must they pick a side on something that really has nothing to do with the product they are selling? Re: Rebalancing into more LTT

You always have to look at it as today and into the future. Looking back at last August doesn't mean anything now. The rate is where it's at today, because half the market thinks it can go up tomorrow and half the market thinks it can go down tomorrow. By "half the market" I mean half of the buy/se...

Re: Reasons why I will not be getting injected for the Wuhan

I 100% believe that if we get future surges, that they will be dealt with in a much less "lockdowny" manner, just because we have gone through it once and that officials, for the most part that I see, do not want to go through this a"gain. I respectfully disagree with this. I think that at least 50...

The supermarket has their sign up again, so I'm back to complying. this is probably not a surprise to anyone on this thread, but I studiously ignore those signs and announcements. Including whem I've had to go to the Post office Texas has been completely open for a while now. Absolutely no capacity...

Re: Rebalancing into more LTT

Whenever you rebalance, almost by definition you feel like you're about to make huge mistake. Because, you're selling assets that have shot up in value and that everyone is dazzled by and wants to buy more of. And you're buying assets that have gone into the crapper and that everyone is telling you...

Re: Jeff Booth on deflation

I am still trying to process the part where he said that the inflation you think you are seeing at the supermarket etc. is really just the deflation of your paycheck in a world where your purchasing power is decreasing because your labor cannot compete any longer due to globalization.

Just out of curiosity, what percent of voters in your county are registered D vs. R?
It’s getting close to 50/50. Bush Jr got 70% of the county vote in his elections. But Romney dropped to 64% and Trump to 55% and 51%. An influx of Californians has changed the political landscape a lot.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

My son’s school district released results of a parent survey today. Keeping in mind this is Red State Texas. When asked if they would like a virtual school option next year, 56% of parents said yes. Of those 56%, 72% cited Covid as the primary reason with convenience and quality of education coming ...

Re: Reasons why I will not be getting injected for the Wuhan

And what if this summer is a lull before another fall/winter "case" spike? I have already seen several articles in the last week or so starting to warn people about the coming resurgence this fall. Even if you believe things will open up a bit in the summer, what makes you think politicians and cit...
