Did anyone subsequently move into or move more into crypto since this thread ? With nearly 39,000 views! I thought about red flags. Wash trading Tether is unaudited magic money which buys Bitcoin Thinly traded markets Huge companies with no address ie Binance Very slow transactions A few parties wi...

Re: Putin Invades Ukraine II
Since stuper mentioned Mearsheimer (in the Led Fridman thread), I’ll just add this response, a quote from Foreign Affairs John Mearsheimer argues that… In other words, Russia has been playing defense, and Putin is merely pushing back against Western encroachment. He seeks nothing more than security...

Also - Vietnam, Afganistan, Iraq and now Ukraine, Israel, Syria. Nothing will be gained from any of this. This is an albatross of debt and distrust for the next generation to bear.

Re: Putin Invades Ukraine II
Do people on here really still think having a war over these Russian provinces was a good idea? Was it worth it to "bleed" Russia or whatever? Are you asking if it was a good idea for the west to join the war? Because war was happening. That’s not on Boris Johnson. How I see it. No nato expansion o...

Re: Putin Invades Ukraine II
Here is a semi un-informed opinion
When Russia called the US and its installed puppet on its continued NATO expansion rhetoric, the US should have told the DWTS guy (Zelenskyy) to give up the Donbass and call it a day or Donetsk or whatever he wants if its "within reason". He's called our bluff.

Selling “cash” SCHO
I want sell some of my SCHO etf that has been reinvesting bond yields. Do I sell the purchases that are making money or do I sell the purchases that are down? Or does it make a difference?

I was actually just thinking that. All of my LTT purchases are in the red. But I do like the 5.088 interest rate.

Re: Golden Butterfly Portfolio
Another way to look at it is that with VBR having a P/E around 10 it’s about a 10 percent return (not sure if that is naive). That also seems about as cheap as it will get. As long as they are mostly good companies that’s better than most alternatives. And eventually the stock price will catch up wi...

Re: I Thought Gold Would Fare Better in 2022-23
How about US domestic stocks. I thought in a general inflationary environment they go up as well. That seems to me to be the easiest inflation hedge. And gold seems to be a long term inflation hedge and maybe a chaos hedge.

Re: I Thought Gold Would Fare Better in 2022-23
Gold has a 10 year CAGR of 3.46 percent. It feels like a super tanker moving very slowly (reflecting an inflationary environment).

Re: How do bond funds / ETF’s work?
@boglerdude
Also thanks for the EDV reference. I was buying full duration 30 year bonds because I wanted biggest impact in a deflationary environment and TLT (expensive) are an average of 20 year durations.
With EDV being so cheap and a 25 year average duration it may be an easier choice.

Re: How do bond funds / ETF’s work?
yeah you'll get 4.65 total return back after 25 years its like holding a bond thats always 25 year duration Anybody heard from robert kessler? Seems like he'd be buying https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1EKb8dk0vg Just to clarify. You mean I will get 4.65 yield FOR 25 years not “after” 25 years, cor...

That’s an interesting comment about Sales tax in the article. Having to get a refund on the sales tax after the purchase could be a hassle.

Thanks Vinny. VBR (which I currently am invested in) is the etf version of VSIAX.
