Re: Just made a purchase at 5.088 for 30 year LTTs

I actually made the purchase because I am in the building a balast phase of investing, for my VP (GOLD, SCV, LTT) AND rebalance my Golden Butterfly Frankenstein. I was thinking if I could live with the yield if if rates went higher and 5.088 percent. And I could. Its good income, regardless of what ...

Re: AI to the moon

I think AI may make simple tasks more complex and frustrating and increase productivity at the same time. It has saved coding time for me and pointed me in the right direction for technical tasks. Current simple task: Walk into a museum in London. “It’s free but you need to download the app and get ...

Thanks Vinny! Was reading through the transcript. Very interesting. I’m going to listen to the whole podcast over the next few days.

Re: Putin Invades Ukraine II

Remember the breathless reports of Putin battling cancer in 2022? IMHO the “news” is just noise and I also feel that many official statements are possibly slightly truthy propoganda. Maybe Germany needs a war to boost their economy after their greatest ally blew up the Nordstream pipeline and plunge...

Re: Gold Avenue (an overseas storage option in Switzerland)

Here is another interesting option I have considered. It is Monetary Metals based in Arizona. They loan your gold out and you get interest in gold back.

Re: Putin interview

Its pretty funny watching the Davos class lose their minds over this interview. TC is traitor! Ban him from the EU! etc, etc... All for...an interview. These people are desperately trying to hold on to credibility and power. I believe Boris Johnson called for some kind of sanctions or something like...

Re: What’s The Best Metals To Buy Into ATM?

The early retirement exteme forum asks some pretty cryptic questions to join the forum. They asked what the "g" in the gcc podcast stand for. Took a while but I figured it out. Maybe ask what does the second "P" in HBPP stand for. Or what does the B in the GB portfolio stand for?

Re: Gold Avenue (an overseas storage option in Switzerland)

I would love a good allocated storage solution that is low cost storage, low premiums, safe, easy, etc, etc... Its interesting. I think a few states are discussing building repositories and some type of legislation making buillion sound money. I think that would be fantastic. Gold is like an apex pr...

Re: This is the best time in 45 years to invest in the Permanent Portfolio

This thread is taking a strange turn. Last time I will respond. Take the last high for the last year or so before the portfolio went sideways and down for a bit then use that high number muliply by 1.077. Now it will get even more strange if you say something like is that rolling returns month over ...

FYI - Apmex has a good deal on 1 gram gold bars right now - at "spot" (or at least what Ampex says is spot): https://www.apmex.com/product/287791/1-gram-gold-bar-secondary-market-at-spot?source=pmbug.com Even though Apmex is quoting a spot higher than what most people expect, without any premium ad...

Trying to fight Russia using the Ukranians as cannon fodder There’s one premise I still don’t accept— - I know that the Ukrainians (government) are corrupt. That never changed anything for me. - Watching Russia adapt after their early poor performance, I have come around to the notion that they can...

Re: The PP: the cockroach of investing strategies

I was browsing through passages that I highlighted years ago in the book Family Wealth Management (2013) and I came across a paragraph that perfectly encapsulates the classic PP approach. I thought I'd share it because it made me laugh, but also because it reminded me that the seemingly dumb simpli...

Cynicism mounting, eh? Did the Israel-Hamas conflict help kill aid for Ukraine or was it going to teeter anyway? IMHO - Probably was going to teeter. Trying to fight Russia using the Ukranians as cannon fodder and not getting our hands dirty, probably won't work and eventually politicians will lose...

Re: Putin Invades Ukraine II

I listened to the podcast over the Thanksgiving holiday. I pretty much agree with everything he said. And also learned some interesting things about Russia in WW2. And that Lex had a naive childish (IMHO) view of the world. Almost like a “bro” view of global leaders. Hey Bro let’s do a deal. To whic...

Since stuper mentioned Mearsheimer (in the Led Fridman thread), I’ll just add this response, a quote from Foreign Affairs John Mearsheimer argues that… In other words, Russia has been playing defense, and Putin is merely pushing back against Western encroachment. He seeks nothing more than security...
