Re: Yay PP!

Vinny, your analogy is flawed in at least two ways, but probably far more than that. This just has nothing to do with fans of an athlete. Hell, it has nothing to do with entertainment! These are people’s financial plans we’re talking about here. Retirement! Financial security! You focused too much ...

Re: Rates!

From a December 1984 "Small Business Report":

LOCK UP HIGH RATES WITH BONDS

Brightening prospects for lower interest rates for the future make investments in bonds a good way to lock in current yields that average about 13% on AAA corporates, 12% on government issues, and 10% on tax-free municipals.

Re: Best Cash Back Credit Card

I'm in the market for a new simple cash back credit card. With no categories and rules etc...I thought I would ask the smart people on this forum for recommendations. So far I have come across the BofA cash back card that would pay up to 2.62% cash back. https://www.bankofamerica.com/credit-cards/p...

Wow. Just wow.

That is after they'd come down considerably after the much higher rates of the early 80s.

Re: What's going on with silver?

I don’t know if it’s a glitch or what, but ‘Empire of Silver’ by Jin Xu is under US$3 at amazon right now. Not just the kindle, but even the hardcover. https://smile.amazon.com/Empire-Silver-Monetary-History-China/dp/0300250045/ Probably part of some strategy. I get a daily email of many books that...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Taleb's dictatorship of the minority is a fascinating treatise. I see it everywhere after having read it. On, the masks at work thing, I wonder if it will finally end when enough people have proven anti-bodies (or a vaccine). I got a test for anti-bodies last week, just for the hell of it, but no l...

You may be interested in the book by Nicholas Nassim Taleb called “Skin In The Game”. It’s about the expert class and how to decide who to trust. Almost finished reading it. Which is why I've done a search here on what has been said about Taleb. Read two of his other books - Fragility & Black Swan.

Not sure it was posted earlier here, a work from Nassim Taleb named "Bitcoin, Currencies, and Fragility" Even though I can't clearly understand all of his statements, its a good food for thought. Well he's a lot smarter than I am. It's a very interesting read. It's worthwhile to at least read the I...

Italy just revised its numbers from the appx. 600k that died WITH COVID, to appx. 3k that died OF COVID. The FDA now thinks it's prudent to delay release of the data from the PFE Mrna Vaccine to 75yrs because, well... nothing to hide here, eh. Follow the money Folks. Finally, and I'm the fuck outta...

Thanks for this. Any idea why they came in 12 separate bonds in 12 separate envelopes? Is that normal?
