Re: Tactical Asset Allocation + HBPP an intriguing combo

I think we all have to be cognizant of the fact that as soon as something gets turned into an investable product it becomes a mechanism for bringing efficiency to that element of the market. It will be interesting to see how it works going forward. The longer I’m around this stuff the more I become...

Re: Tactical Asset Allocation + HBPP an intriguing combo

iShares has a set of lower volatility ETFs which could produce better GEM signals which are less "whippy" than using regular S&P 500 and ACWI ex-US ETFs. These are USMV and ACWV. Let's compare them to VOO and VEU. Unfortunately, the history is very limited, only spans 2013-2019. USMV/ACWV CAGR 13.1...

Re: Tactical Asset Allocation + HBPP an intriguing combo

Good to know about iShares. Schwab seems to be working hard GEM's rolling 12-month return is -5.47%. Not all strategies are created the same. My modified version of GEM has a rolling 12-month return of +11.4% (unlevered). Unless you are willing to share signals on a regular basis, it is hard to fol...

Some other strategies have **cough** "made a change" **cough** this month, but the info is copyrighted so I can't say any more.
Is this the latest one that you signed up and which one you were able to backtest so many centuries?

Invest like Buffett?

What do people here think of Buffett's investing style? He goes after long-term and has performed relatively well. Currently, he is after AMZN.

After I reenter this will be my allocation

Stocks 28%
Gold 12%
Cash 13%
Intermediate Treasuries 47%

....for a smooth ride until it's time to truly go on the offense again.
Thanks for the numbers! What do you use for gold? Which option for gold do you recommend at Schwab?

Thanks, ochotona-san! You are a true samurai. You honestly share your thoughts, ups and downs, and your plan of action. I always appreciate it in people. As for HBPP, among which assets do you spread the capital by 25%? Hi all, The last trade day of this month is this Friday. Momentum, so far, point...

Re: Tactical Asset Allocation + HBPP an intriguing combo

Hi all,

The last trade day of this month is this Friday. Momentum, so far, points to stocks. Bonds have outdone them. Where will you invest for April?

The regular GEM and 3-6-9-12 month (annualized performance scores) GEM are still both in bonds for February 2019.
Thanks for letting us know!

Trying to figure out how you conclude from the link to the Visualised Portfolio whether GEM 3-6-9-12 month needs to change?

Re: Dual Momentum GEM + HBPP a great combo, easy to test

GEM lags in bull markets, but hugely leads in bear markets. Everyone should know this. There are lots of trades that don't work out, but the ones that do hit big. It's the same thing for the HBPP, or any disciplined investment strategy for that matter. If you're not prepared for a bad trade, don't ...
