Re: New Gold Product from the Royal Mint
"RMG is offered in a landmark partnership between the world’s leading export mint, The Royal Mint, and CME Group, the world’s leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace." And we can DEFINITELY believe the CME Group when they say that they will ALWAYS have all the physical gold that ...

Re: New Gold Product from the Royal Mint
I like the idea. There are some questions I could not find about rmg. Where are they making money to pay the cost of storage if there are no fees.? Can anyone obtain the RMG or would you have to be registered with them? I am wondering if this could allow capital flight from anywhere in the world. I...

New Gold Product from the Royal Mint
I came across this the other day. Does anyone know about it? I'll have to see once it gets up an running. Snazzy website. http://rmg.royalmint.com From my understanding, it uses blockchain technology, similar to bitcoin, to offer shares of physical gold. There are other services. Here is the origina...

Re: Google Docs is moribund
Anyone know how this will affect Chrome OS/Chromebooks? I was thinking of getting one, and a huge plus was to be able to work on offline spreadsheets. If this is going away, then I may reconsider.

Re: Federal debt ceiling
In his opinion piece in the WSJ, King argues that the central problem of the global economy today is the growth of total debt—public, private, and corporate-- and on a truly GLOBAL scale. He gives the figures and it is apparent that the problem is much bigger than just Washington’s follies with an ...

Re: Laddering vs. not, and other questions
Thanks for the reassurance. That's what I thought. I'll stay the course. Also for some reason, I thought I would get 1 CUSIP per $1000. Because it was all the same issue date, it was for one CUSIP. Not that it matters. Also sorry for the spelling mistake in my original post. I have corrected them. I...

Re: GenX 7% in Gold?
I'd say you are probably more self-aware than most. You know that you probably won't be able to handle the volatility when it hits, so you have traded some theoretical CAGR for less volatility. I say "theoretical" because a lot of people will sell equities when the volatility hits, and th...

Re: Federal debt ceiling
Help me understand some of the preliminary arguments here. My assumptions are no debt ceiling, and positive interest rates. 1. Assuming no debt ceiling, If the US Treasury issues so many bonds, lets say a trillion dollars, that the demand for such bonds starts falling in so-called private markets, t...

I always found JM Bullion and APMEX to be a bit cheaper, but with these changes TPM is worth a second look.

Re: How about US mid-caps?
I believe I recall noticing that many of the mid-cap indicies are ever so slightly "overweighted" with REIT's, compared to small-caps or large-caps. Perhaps this is a contributing factor in some small way given their past performance pre-2007/2008 I also think mid-caps are undervalued and ...

Laddering vs. not, and other questions
I've made the decision, as a new member here and recent 'convert' ;) to move my traditional 70/30 portfolio into a golden butterfly. Young investor, so talking small-ish amounts of cash here. As per my understanding from reading here, I bought the longest maturity treasury bond I could find on the s...

Gen Y here...and 20% in Gold.
It doesn't make sense to me to be so exposed to equities. Why reach for 1%-2% more CAGR when I can reduce my volatility by huge amount?
Maybe I'm just weird.
Or paranoid.
Or both

Re: New Here - I want to make sure I got the basics!
Wow, such fantastic advice here. Thank you all for replying. I'm trying to get my father started on the PP as he is a few years from retirement. I never gave my VP much thought, but I would like to keep my REIT's so I will make that apart of my VP. Only have several thousand in there, and I guess I ...

New Here - I want to make sure I got the basics!
Hi All, Just joined after sneaking around here for awhile. I figured it's about time. I've always been a boglehead, and still am in many regards, but I've also read portions of Harry Browne's fine book several years ago in college, and have slowly come around to the perm portfolio side of things. An...
