Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
I do have one, or rather I bought one for my phone. I lost it. Eventually, I’ll have one attached to my headphones and it’ll be harder to lose, because there will be no ⅛” jacks left to switch to. On Sunday I somehow lost my right Apple Airpod Pro. I had been using them to listen to music while eat...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
It looks like no iPhone SE update. Darn.
Maybe I'll get the 14 (which has moved down in price), or a refurb 13. Hmmm.
I'm trying to move to a morning gym routine now, too. I haven't done that in ten some odd years maybe.

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
Anyone going to get a new iPhone 16 of some sort? I currently have an 11 Pro Max and am thinking it might be about time. Battery is about 85%. I’m also thinking about an Apple Watch series 11 depending on the medical features that are available. I’ve never had one or anything similar. Any guidance?...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. I'm currently working on a couple papers for my master's degree program, and then I'll be taking a break in the evening to spend some time with the missus. According to the weather forecasts here, it looks like today is the last day of real summer heat for t...

Re: Austrian Economic Sites Other than the Mises Institute
I highly recommend the work of Saifedean Ammous. He has numerous books, videos, interviews, and even online courses dedicated to the Austrian school of economic thought. His stuff is really excellent. He also happens to be a strong proponent of Bitcoin and was a champion of the gold standard prior t...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
I was dealing with some stress this spring, so I did some research into herbal medicine. I realized that a yard full of useful plants that I knew how to use was a form of wealth. I ordered some seeds. I was able to get several perennials established: valerian, licorice, astragalus, but failed with ...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
Vinny, I had no idea you were sick. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Incidentally, I was sick just recently after our wedding (post-stress illness), and I was down and out for a good while. Neocitran and all that stuff helped, but it was really just staying in bed all the time that did the trick. It w...

Re: BRICS avoiding US dollars and transaction platforms
Very interesting video. I do see things like this from time to time. It's usually a knowledgeable and well-spoken individual telling us that there are cracks in the current system and that it will be supplanted any day now. Unfortunately they also remind me of those breakthrough advances in cancer r...

Lululemon is back down to around the same price as when I was looking at it a few years ago: two hundred dollars and change.
After touching as high $500 per share one point.
I'm really glad I don't speculate seriously.

Re: Good Small Cap Value Funds in 2024
Avantis seems to be the bee's knees right now when it comes to US SCV funds. This is not to say that other SCV funds from other firms such as Vanguard or DFA are bad, but they've grown in size so much that their concentration in their target factors has diminished as a result. As a Canadian my choic...

Burley: But you don’t feel that stocks are in a bubble? I’m always seeing bubbles everywhere. :) Smith: I agree. Once a person has some critical mass of gold, just set it aside and run a stocks/bonds/cash investment plan. I Shrugged: I 100% feel like stocks are in a bubble. But if I go too heavy in...

Re: Are you always taking a bath on at least one asset?
Some excellent discussion here folks. I'll chime in and add another perspective. Since the original HBPP thread on the Knuckleheads forum, people have occasionally brought up the issue of gold being rebalanced into oblivion during a currency crisis or hyperinflation. I've been cognizant of this as w...

Re: "U.S. Treasuries not the safe bet they once were"
I understand that perspective but don't necessarily agree.
The last time the U.S. defaulted on its debt was 1971, and the time previous to that was 1933. We often paint this narrative that these were simply changes or repudiation to the gold standard, but in reality, they were simply defaults.
