Re: The GOLD scream room

I would love to see a gold ETF blow up. That would be really amusing. I had been thinking this could happen if the gold market were to have either a big correction or big runup (like we're seeing now). Going to check my accounts this weekend and will probably find myself having to rebalance. Most e...

Re: Bridgewater All Weather ETF

Yeah, regarding the long treasury: truly equalizing risk across assets means that at the very least the allocation to bonds would have to vary based on the current interest rate, since bonds are way more volatile at low interest rates than high. Not to mention the expected returns become muted. You ...

Re: Bridgewater All Weather ETF

I guess by buying ALLW I'm very much back on the gold train since its an explicit part of the fund's investment domain.

Re: Gave up on "pure" Permanent Portfolio in EU

Going to look into this Masterworks thing. I've always been curious about investing in art, but I've also always wondered how much of the spectacular returns you always hear about were just money laundering. How much does that skew the return statistics?

Re: Bridgewater All Weather ETF

I'm really excited to see how this thing performs. Bridgewater and All Weather for the everyman. Love it.

After accounting for the leverage, it looks like the total portfolio exposure is 183.97%.

Re: Bridgewater All Weather ETF

The relatively high ER irked me at first, but then I realized that the dynamic asset allocation and leverage of this fund was something I couldn't realistically implement on my own. So I'm okay with paying the 85 bps.

It's also nice to just have 1 fund that doesn't need any futzing!

Bridgewater All Weather ETF

There is officially an All Weather/Risk Parity ETF made available by the Bridgewater themselves. https://www.ssga.com/us/en/intermediary/etfs/spdr-bridgewater-all-weather-etf-allw https://www.ssga.com/us/en/intermediary/capabilities/alternatives/all-weather-etf Looks pretty darn good. Re: BTC in the PP

They are keeping bitcoin that was captured via law enforcement activities but they are also intending to acquire more. It just has to be in a budget neutral way in order to sidestep congressional approval.

Hopefully! At this point I'm not surprised about anything... bitcoin spikes on no news, and then tanks on what is ostensibly good news on a regular basis. Just gonna sit back and enjoy the ride. O0

I think it's a 10% chance over the next 50 years for the Cascadia quake. Which, if you consider a revolver with ten chambers, and a game of Russian Roulette, isn't good at all. It will be like having your entire house shaken and busted apart by a giant for several minutes... and imagine a wet and c...
