Re: 🔥 Who Has Reached FIRE & What Are You Doing Now? 🔥

I'm wondering how six hours a week of delivery pays all of your expenses. That's a good place to be. Did you need to lay out some capital to get to that state, e.g. solar setup to eliminate electricity expense. Yep, you got it. Tiny home built for my climate, solar panels, grow most of my own food,...

Re: 🔥 Who Has Reached FIRE & What Are You Doing Now? 🔥

Frugal, I hope you are well! 1) My life is so much better than it was when I was working full time. I'm unstressed, my relationships are better and I can focus on the things I enjoy. 2) I still do two jobs: I run a large garden or small farm to supply my local food pantry with as much fresh produce ...

Misquoting Jesus with Bart Ehrman. I've never learned more from any one source than I have from Bart. https://www.bartehrman.com/podcast/ I hope your eternal future is not compromised by learning from an atheist. I also meant no offense by this. Before I started listening to Bart I was one of those...

I live in FL and grow year-round on my 1 acre homestead. Tomatoes, melons, lettuce, beans, broccoli, sunflowers, tobacco, peanuts. Plus I have a small orchard fruit trees: peach, fig, alvacado, citrus, plums, ect. Gardening is a great hobby. I also have 6 chickens. I eat 3 fresh eggs every morning ...

Not to be a downer, but the premiums on physical silver make it a non-starter for me as an investment. I wish you success if you decide to pull the trigger, however. You're right on the premiums. Silver Eagles were close to 100% premium a couple months back. They are still obscene, which is why I w...

I have maybe $200 worth of junk silver I've picked up from various coin dealers who were willing to sell 'em for melt, plus a couple I found in the register when I worked retail as a teenager. Re: How Do You Balance Work And Leisure?

I don't balance them. As a government employee I do the absolute minimum needed to keep my job. I don't even know what to say, other than there should be no government employees. Even if you aren't a libertarian, you can see that the private sector would deal with this in a better fashion. Someone ...

Re: How Do You Balance Work And Leisure?

There’s an old saying: Nobody on their death bed ever said, “I wish I’d spent more time at the office.” Tortoise This is pretty much my reasoning. I have a lot of goals in life and none of them involve working. As a government employee I do the absolute minimum needed to keep my job. There’s an arg...

Here is a good example: https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/wor ... id-1529612

Same specifications as a UK Sovereign. With patience you can find these close to melt; and look at those mintages!

Re: Best Deal right now on Gold

One thing I've thought of doing is buying low-mintage, graded proof gold from countries other than the United States. There are times when you can get them for close to melt. I wouldn't do it with more than, say, 25% of my gold allocation because these coins are not nearly as recognizable as the com...

Re: Linux, continued

It's hard to get exact specs for the new machines, but it looks a lot what Dell has done in the past in terms of providing support and ensuring compatibility for Ubuntu and Fedora. The value added here is probably in ensuring that all the hardware is supported and runs well with linux, which can be ...
