Re: Cash is King!
Is the green line the dollar index $USD? If so I question its use in this comparison, it being a ratio against other currencies, not a model of a cash instrument. It may reverse course just as quickly at any time, as it did in the six months or so after the 2016 election. Try SHV or SHY. Either is ...

Seeing this thread dug up made me take a look to see how the various portions of the PP are doing... Cash has remained King for this time period.

Please forgive my laziness of not looking it up myself, but what were his reasons?
For me, the obvious ones are storage and portability. It would be difficult to conceal a large amount of wealth in silver.

CNBC - Hedge fund billionaire Ray Dalio may be warning about the economy, but Wall Street bull Jeff Saut isn't changing his thesis. March 2019 will mark the 10th year of this bull market, and "We ought to have another seven to eight years left," he said. We ought to have peace and prosper...

Seems odd that she gets to keep whatever was in the safe deposit boxes. You'd think those things would need to be set aside for a long period of time to see who can lay claim to them.
Interesting house, though. I like the concept, if not the execution.

Double check that you are actually better off waiting to invest in the other assets. I’m + over 1MM YTD...you do realize that the S&P is +ve +7% and SCV for me + 12.5% YTD. Oh yeah, for sure. I'm overweight cash from selling out of most of my small cap and mid cap exposure (IJR & IJH, respe...

Re: Gold to bounce soon?
Should we ever complain that a physical asset is becoming cheaper? I was watching an interview yesterday where the assertion was made that this is a mainly US phenomenon; that US investors tend to be trend followers and only want to buy what's going up. It's been my experience that nearly everyone ...

AAAU is backed by the Perth Mint. But one might prefer their online depository so everything isnt vulnerable to a failure of your brokerage This. If you want it backed by the Perth Mint, you can do so directly without adding more counterparty risk with not only your brokerage, but also the fund fam...

We all know how irrational works. It can go deeper than anyone expects. I just placed another order for silver. I'm going to buy more gold soon too. My US Dollars are putting in some awesome work! I've been cash heavy for a bit and was worried about so much exposure, but it turns out that was the th...

Re: Gold Coin Counterfeit Detectors
Your best protection against counterfeiting is to always buy from highly reputable dealers. This seems to be the general consensus and I agree. However, because I'm the ultimate in paranoia, I picked up a SigmaMetalytics Precious Metal Verifier Pro. I have to say, it's finally given me the peace of...

I've been dipping into buying some physical silver once we went below $16/ozt. Seems a bargain to me. I doubt I'll get any platinum, palladium, rhodium, etc.

Re: Safe Deposit Box Location
I've been contemplating this subject a lot lately since moving into more physical gold from paper. I think the idea of diversifying locations and methods is likely the route with the least potential for being ruined. Safe deposit boxes can be drilled, confiscated, or become unavailable in a crisis. ...

I'm sure I don't have to tell you, I still hear way too many people talking about it being on sale, backing up the truck, stacking more, etc. Really? That hasn't been my experience. I hear FAR more calling gold a relic with no dividend or just not talking about gold at all. It is a hated asset righ...

Ahh, finally a commission-free way to invest in paper gold with my Roth at TDA! A little late for me, but maybe I'll buy some anyway. Thanks for posting this.
