Re: Trump's Effect on the PP
I have now lost like 2/3 of this year's gain. Why the fuck cannot even one year work out remotely decent?

Re: Trump's Effect on the PP
I seriously doubt that the future will play out as you describe. The fundamental premise of the PP is to hold all assets at ALL times. I will continue to reinvest interest payments into LTT's as I believe the flight to safety and deflation are still possibilities. yeah, its fucked up. All the gains...

Re: Trump's Effect on the PP
I don't hold a Venezuelan PP as the country is not the world's reserve currency. What other country do you expect to take America's place? We truly live in a time when the cards are stacked on our side if you live in the US. Just to drive my point home, what if in some setting the world had an olig...

Re: Trump's Effect on the PP
Trump will actually do whatever is best for Trump. First order of business is drastically reduce taxes on the wealthy. Second is to eliminate the estate tax so his kids will end up with everything he's scammed. Everything else is simply noise (he has no principles and no morals). He's suggested &qu...

Re: Is The Big Crash Coming?
So staitng one's opinion without having the inclination to defend it to those who are incalcitrant is considered trolling? Good to know! Based on realistic observation of what people call trolling, I'd say the real definition of trolling is "saying things people don't like." This place is...

Re: Is The Big Crash Coming?
Blood drinker, I don't think you're a troll, but you have some Alt-Right ideas that you must know are going to get some people riled up. It's not merely a difference of opinion when you say Africans are bound to fail because they're Africans. It's racism, pure and simple. Now you're obviously entit...

Re: Is The Big Crash Coming?
if you believe something weird or unconventional, make your case in a non inflammatory way, and step up to defend it when a rational debate ensues. if you cant do that you will be called out for trolling.. and rightly so... Debate doesn't ensue because things happen the reverse from what you said. ...

Re: Is The Big Crash Coming?
I thought you were a troll? But you can use this: Thanks, good find. While we're asking questions, why do all normal people think everyone with different opinions is a "troll?" People post cute pictures about the importance of respecting different opinions, and american libertarian types ...

This brings up an interesting point: how can we know what the value of cash is doing?wolfgango wrote:When the 3 non cash assets drop I see the cash portion carrying or greatly mitigating the drop. In relation to the others cash is up so to speak.

Re: Is The Big Crash Coming?
Thursday, I rebalanced everything to match what I am most happy with. Call it the Corto portfolio. A little more precious metals (30%) and stocks (35%) basically, taken from the cash portion. This is common. Many people see deflation as almost impossible but inflation as assured, and 25% of the por...

Re: Trading Options with the PP
What about the value of buying put options for your own stock, bond and gold funds, termed a year out? It's not uncommon in PP to have one stinker and two productive assets each year, with cash always being roughly flat. I haven't looked at an option table for years, but do the numbers for buying pu...

Re: Intellectuals are Freaks
I am aware of no studies of this sensitive topic, but to judge from my experience the number of single individuals and childless married couples among what might be called the American intelligentsia appears to be much higher than in the population at large. The postponement of marriage in order to...

Some bank investment guy tried to pitch this fund to me a few years ago. I wasn't impressed with his operation for a number of reasons, but I've looked into the fund, it's basically just a growth stock ETF. One thing I sometimes wonder about is, if the point of holding stock is to cash in during tim...
