How about using a covered call option strategy?

Re: Stock scream room

If anyone wants to feel a bit better about the stock selloff the last couple weeks <snip> I don't know why anyone would need to feel better about it. With the performance of gold and LTT lately, my portfolio's at an all-time high. I'll take this performance any day of the week, and twice on sunday!...

Re: Stocks Crashing! Thank God For The PP!!

Definitely a problem with the PP's design...it just doesn't have the entertainment value of watching the stock market. ;) But we can watch. Like the people in southern FL watch the weather channel in January. Too funny.  We Winter in Southern Florida and my wife asked me right before I read your ...

Re: PP now beating SP500 YTD

If we are comparing PP to a 100% stock portfolio, then I think we should use VTI for both portfolios so that we are comparing apples to apples.  It looks to me that as of 12/12/15, VTI is =.3% and PP is -2.4%.

P.S.  I am pro-PP and continue to utilize it.

Re: This Forum & Dissenting Opinions of the HBPP

Also, I just noticed that rebalancing annually is actually riskier in terms of MaxDD than using the close equivalent of 30/20 bands.  However, the P2T backtester uses absolute not relative percentage bands, so I cannot test them out on the Risk Parity PP which is stuck with annually (it does beat t...

Re: Are you buying, holding, or selling the PP?

I picked choice number 2 but it's not because I have any intentional plans to change my allocations. It's because I'm the ultimate lazy investor and if the portfolio wants to drift between the pure 25% PP and the Golden Butterfly without re-balancing I'm fine with it now that I see that the latter ...

Re: The Golden Butterfly Portfolio

This is exactly my concern about how the discussions on the forum of late are affecting people. Over a long enough time horizon, your choice of allocation matters far less than your ability to stick with it.  If you are constantly jumping from allocation to allocation based on how you think the win...

Re: PP is once again positive YTD

I'm down about 7% this year Same thing. I've set up PP in mid Jan of this year. Really bad timing. As of 11/9, the PP is down 2.4% for the year.  If you have 7% losses, then it is from continuing to buy lagging gold as opposed to putting new money into the PP equally across all classes, leaving it ...

Re: PP is once again positive YTD

*puts on wizard robe and hat* don't forget 2015 I've decided my issues with PP performance are mostly based on the fact that I keep investing new money into it.  If I was retiring on this portfolio, I wouldn't be happy per se, but I'd be far less pissed Well, it is down 2% YTD, after having been up...

Re: PP is once again positive YTD

When I backtest to 1975, I only see 3 losing years in 40:  1981, 1994 and 2013.  I come up with the same result regardless of whether I have it rebalance annually or if I use 35/15 bands.  Personally, even if the strategy lost 3 years in a row, I would stay the course.  It is not much different than...
