Re: Bitcoin in the PP?

I agree with your points. And welcome to the forum! (sorry the others gave such a harsh welcome) Blockchains are terribly inefficient. The only time youd use one is if the decentralization/censorship resistance that you require absolutely necessitate it. A group of companies working together can for...

Re: Bitcoin in the PP?

feel free to ignore my messages on this topic Ill ignore what has no value. Like your one line beanie baby posts that are a waste of electrons. I dont mind criticisms, discussions, or arguments as perhaps one of us learns something. Blockchain in general has the potential of revolutionizing commerc...

Re: Bitcoin in the PP?

I'd rather add Beanie Babies to the PP. Still waiting for an intellectual criticism from you. Every thread on Bitcoin you spin the wheel-of-bitcoin-attempted-insults-from-2013 and pull out tulips or beanie babies or some nonsense without adding any value to the thread. Reminds me of close-minded Bo...

Re: Bitcoin in the PP?

I am honestly curious what the thought process of the risk/reward ratio is of putting 0.5%-1.0% bitcoin in one's portfolio? Well, I for one think it's a very good idea. The PP provides for this, in some sense. Besides the Permanent Portfolio, it's advised to keep a VP = Variable Portfolio, if you w...

Re: Bitcoin in the PP?

Did someone flash the Bitcoin signal in the sky?! I proposed a version of the PP with 24/24/24/24/4 allocation (with 4% being in Bitcoin). But it is really more for fun and also the same as a normal PP with a Bitcoin sidecar in the VP. Im a huge long term Bitcoin bull, but the only way it makes any ...

Re: Bitcoin loses half of its value in two-day plunge

GLD is currently down not quite 2% YTD, Bitcoin is down about 17% YTD. Not a surprise that the smaller more speculative asset gets hit more. Not so much informative about YTD numbers. More curious as to how gold and bitcoin will behave moving through this crisis, which seems to be deflationary, and...

Re: Bitcoin loses half of its value in two-day plunge

If GBTC gets to $4 (early 2019 levels) I might put 0.5% of the porfolio into it. But it would have to be $4 or lower. I'd really be a buyer at $0.40. I'm not waiting to pull the trigger, in other words. I have alerts set. You should also consider the premium of GBTC to BTC which can vary wildly. In...

Re: Bitcoin loses half of its value in two-day plunge

Would have liked for some Bitcoin magic at this time. But it seems that BTC is being pulled down like other assets during this deflationary period. My understanding is the same thing happened to gold in 2008 crisis. And is happening to gold now? It would appear to me that gold and bitcoin are poised...

Re: China Govt Digital Currency

I love “cash” that loses 50% of its value in a DAY! Let’s go get some. Really don’t post such nonsense anymore. It’s a horrible form of exchange except for criminals and speculators. I didn’t call Bitcoin "cash". It is highly volatile, for sure. Which part of what I said was nonsense? Lets try to h...

Re: China Govt Digital Currency

Seems to be an assumption in this thread that Bitcoin's value proposition is that Bitcoin is digital . I dont see that as the value proposition. The dollar and most currencies are largely already digital. The value proposition for Bitcoin is censorship resistance: The ability to transact without a c...

Re: Bitcoin's boom in 2017 was largely market manipulation

Here is another viewpoint on it: https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2019-11-05/did-the-bitcoin-bubble-come-from-one-bitfinex-tether-trader Additionally, Harry pointed out (I believe in a radio show discussing Hunt brothers and silver) that individuals transacting voluntarily does not constit...
