Re: Chauvin Verdict

And since unfair trials of young black men are about 99x more likely than the unfair trial of a cop, per your very own description, I look forward to seeing you continually share their advocate for their well-being on this forum, as well as ridicule the non-leftist police/criminal-justice forces in...

Re: Chauvin Verdict

Maddy is the one asserting that 99% of the time our justice system is unfair towards young black men, so my point was to reconcile that with her (assuming female sorry if that’s incorrect) constant hand-wringing about how uniquely awful the left is due to the 1% of the time they supposedly get thei...

Re: Chauvin Verdict

The other more over-arching point is how you can UNIQUELY damn “the left” for engaging in tactics that 99% of the time are being used by centrists and conservatives in our criminal justice complex. Remember, I used to be on "the left." A good part of my early work in law was in the state appeals co...

Re: Chauvin Verdict

If that's 99% of the cases, and Chauvin is the 1%, why is the left throwing this cop under the bus the only one worth shining a light on? How in god's name is this just one more issue of "the left being out of control," when they're only just now getting their hands on the wheel here. Sounds like t...

Re: Chauvin Verdict

Without examining the individual cases in which police officers have been acquitted, the fact that only a small percentage result in conviction is meaningless.

Re: Chauvin Verdict

Well 99 percent of the time, the shoe is on the other foot--i.e., it's the young black men in poverty-stricken neighborhoods who suffer the injustice of a system that has declared them guilty before they ever set foot in a courtroom. So procedural integrity is an issue that should be of vital concer...

I expect his attorneys will appeal, so...no immediate resolution, I suspect. For the moment Minneapolis has dodged the riot bullet. I agree with Sophie. . . This one surely will be appealed. Under normal circumstances, I'd say there's a darned good chance of this verdict getting overturned, but not...

Re: Chauvin Verdict

None of us sat on that jury, so it doesn't matter squat what any of us thinks. What matters is whether these jurors evaluated the evidence fairly and objectively, or whether their verdict was swayed--even in part--by the fact that an acquittal would have put targets on their backs for life. The proc...

Re: Chauvin Verdict

I find it hard to fathom any other evidence possibly changing my opinion. What about the video(s) leaves any doubt? . . .s death? Ok, sure. I agree Chauvin has been (railroaded??) by the system, but he 100% deserved it. The day I saw an opposing counsel dummy up evidence--and saw the court look the...

Re: Chauvin Verdict

Do you have an opinion about the case itself? Did Chauvin's actions rise to the level of criminal, whether 2nd or 3rd degree murder or manslaughter? No, I really don't. All I've picked up is what we've been fed by the media--which we know to be untrustworthy and oftentimes flat-out made up. I think...

Chauvin Verdict

I have not been following this trial all that closely, but several recent, well-publicized, events have left me wondering whether anything is left of our legal system. (By way of background, I was in general and commercial litigation for several decades, then around 2010 got out when the system appe...

Re: Need a realtor to sell a home in this market?

If it's my listing, one thing I like to do if presented with a dual agency announcement is propose taking the listing away from the realtor so they can represent the proposed buyer with no conflicts. Do it enthusiastically and magnanimously, as in "hey, I have a great idea"... my new realtor and I ...

Re: Need a realtor to sell a home in this market?

Google "opportunity zones." Investors are buying exactly where they are directed by the central planners, who are giving them massive tax breaks to play by the rules. As for real estate brokers, I have no use for them. My recent experience in two successive transactions convinced me that when hiring...

Re: Woke Corporations

This is no surprise. It's been amply apparent for quite some time that the "progressive" left is all about corporatism and lining the pockets of the Elite. Does anyone still think the dems have even the slightest concern for the average working schlub?

They All Look Alike

I thought this was absolutely hysterical. "Woke" msnbc journalist airs video of the wrong black congressman. I imagine she's hyperventilating about now, and that her equally woke colleagues are attempting to console her by assuring her that "it could have happened to anyone." https://www.breitbart.c...

Re: Optimal Diet

What is it about carbs that cause that unique sort of craving for them? I can eat a sauteed asparagus omelet with cheese and feel perfectly full, but even so there's often an urge to top it off with a muffin or toast. When under stress, it's carbs that do the trick. My hypothesis is that carbs have ...

They hate Asians because Asians supposedly act white. You know--they work hard, study hard, become accomplished in racist things like science and classical music, build businesses--nose to the grindstone stuff. White people do those things? That's a debatable question, but it's the perception that ...

Excuse me if I'm putting words in anyone's mouth, but I don't believe that anyone here has taken the position that the virus is "B.S." The issue is whether this "awful" virus has created such a dire, worldwide emergency as to justify the torpedoing of the U.S. economy, the destruction of nearly half...

Re: Former CDC director thinks SARS-CoV-2 escaped from a lab in Wuhan

A "feeling of impending doom" is one of the hallmark criteria for major depression. In fact, the particular phrase she used to describe her mental state comes right out of the DSM.

And this woman's pathological feelings are supposed to be the basis for national policy?

Re: Reasons why I will not be getting injected for the Wuhan

Life has become so scary for some people, and so paralyzing, that I think we ought to more seriously consider the widespread use of voluntary conservatorships. Contrary to what they may say, these people really do prefer an ultra-controlled, "rubber room" environment geared toward reducing their anx...
