Re: What the heck happened to Maddy?

It happened a couple of days ago, within an hour or two after I posted a comment to the "Political Realignment" thread. The comment, which seriously triggered at least one individual, promptly disappeared--followed by everything else.

Re: hasty browsers

It's called "autocomplete," and you can turn it off. Just don't ask me how. I'm amazed I knew that, being a complete idiot when it comes to computers. In fact, it occurs to me that the original post might be some kind of joke or satire, and that I'm an even bigger idiot than I thought. On the other ...

Re: Homelessness on the Rise?

I don't think this is exactly what Sophie meant, but I suspect her signature alone could, in the old days, have put many of them in state psychiatric hospitals. Not such a bad idea for those who are so gravely disabled that they can't discriminate between a toilet and a doorstep.

Re: Will America ever be great again?

In the vast majority of cases, couples who divorce don't simply acknowledge their mistake and agree to move on. They stew in a world of perpetual blame and recrimination, often for decades. Would these people have been happier unmarried? I tend to think not. The victim/oppressor mindset so prevalent...

Re: Impeachment failing in battleground states

From sondlands opening testimony it seems like a lot of the Ukraine policy was filtered through Rudy Giuliani. Why does the president involve his private lawyer and a private citizen when conducting government foreign policy? Is Giuliani a firewall? A way to claim attorney client priviledge when co...

Re: Impeachment failing in battleground states

Jeez Moda...your lithium levels must be low. I love this forum. :) I just ask that professions are honest about the advantages they have and don't scape-goat immigrants and academia for their inability to make a tidy profit. Huh? I've had it with boomers (or anyone) trying to lecture Americans on "...

Re: RIP Paul Volcker

He was a Trilateralist, apparently. Somehow that doesn't quite fit with the image of a rickety driver's seat propped up by an apple box.

Americans get paid more than they deserve to.
What amount is it that Americans deserve to be paid?

And while we're at it, what should the earth's temperature be?

It's worse than that, Sophie. The charge itself has gone from one unsubstantiated allegation to another.

Re: Too bad George Orwell isn't around to see this

If you want to learn more about the issues surrounding impeachment either watch this or read the author's book or do both. I read his book last night immediately after finishing watching. https://www.c-span.org/video/?466747-1/impeach Vinny Alan Dershowitz has a pretty good handle on what the Frame...

Re: Too bad George Orwell isn't around to see this

Impeaching for something that isn't a crime would be a terrible precedent. How would a President even know whether something he's doing is impeachable or not, if he can be impeached for something that's legal? Fortunately, I don't think it's true. Surely there has to be a crime for somebody to be i...
