Re: Crypto (IBIT) Vs. Gold (IAUM): Which Is The Better Hedge?
bitcoin hadn’t proven itself to be a hedge to anything .
if anything it’s traded like a tech stock following them up and down .
gold is a far better hedge and has proven itself over and over to be better at the last two decades than bonds have been

Re: 3 Risks Of The Permanent Portfolio
can’t read it behind the pay wall. i tried archive today and saw only a piece . but i have been saying here for years , the long treasury bonds and rate spikes are the achilles heel of the pp. even once again , those who thought it was safe to go back in the water with them got hammered just now . t...

Re: Not yet coming here? [to the Forum]
the pp has been acting worse than a 60/40 as the various other assets get hit along with stocks . so far no protection at all. all that happens is the hole it has to climb out of if things shift gets deeper. it really has been no better and is actually been worse then 25% equities and some 1-3 year ...

Re: Not yet coming here?
i think after it got hammered with everything else in 2022 many realized there is no free lunch . there are very real risks today at what are still historically low rates for a rise in rates to be kryptonite to the pp . there are so many new funds that can likely outperform the pp with less risk to...

yeah , because it certainly didn’t perform the last two days as expected . swan also did terrible which is weird becuse it’s bonds mostly. from what i see these so called SAFER portfolios just don’t seem to be much safer when you buy it . the carolina reaper , the risk parity portfolio also did poorly

Re: BTC in the PP
then a big dump ….
back in the lower 80k range this morning.
which is why i won’t put more than a percent or so in it .
a 1% position in it can be more like a 5% -7% position in gold as far as volatility.
for me it’s purely a fun position and no more than that

Re: Balancing Gains and Losses Every Year to Eliminate Capital Gains Tax in the Long Run
the real benefit is tax gain harvesting. that is when you are able to take advantage of the zero capital gain bracket . tax loss harvesting is a mixed bag and is simply delaying paying those taxes. as your cost basis on the next investment is much higher . delaying capital gains can be a double edge...

Re: Attention: Mathjak! Choose Your Tactical Asset Allocation Strategy Carefully
well these portfolios i mentioned are not tactically allocated . they stay fixed , some are not even rebalanced unless the fed lowers orraises rates and even then its only rebalanced that once as an example here is the accelerated pp . there is nothing tactically changed 25% leveraged stock funds (U...
