Re: Forex Diversification

I just sold my short-term corporate bonds, which I considered to be "nearly cash", and bought FXF the Swiss Franc ETF. I didn't want to hold the currencies of jurisdictions that have economically weak nations in them (many Euro States, also UK) or have unique exposure to "geopolitical...

Re: Thinking about the unthinkable - Treasuries as a risky asset

The problem is... if the government bonds get crushed due to a confidence crisis, then all bonds (and stocks) will be re-priced. Holding AA AAA corporates OK if your corporate issuers keep paying and you hold to maturity and ignore the mark-to-market noise.

Ms. Market "votes" on inflation

Over the past 9 days, when you compare TIP vs IEF, STIP vs SHY, it seems Ms. Market is voting for disinflation, not inflation over 2 and 7-8 year timeframes. https://stockcharts.com/freecharts/perf.php?SHY,STIP,IEF,TIP However, 9 days is really short, could be noise, if we check back and it's still ...

Re: International vs US bond momentum

I doesn't take much time to manage this... Stockcharts.com, PerfCharts option, you can pull off the 1, 3, 6, 12 month total returns for all of your tickers in a few minutes. Trade once a month. The hard part is sticking to it, second-guessing yourself, letting the short-term ruin your long-term plan...

Re: Thinking about the unthinkable - Treasuries as a risky asset

As everyone knows, I get in and out of positions using momentum, as defined and used in the paper A Quantitative Approach to Tactical Asset Allocation . Let's consider the two basic fixed-income safe-haven assets... T-Bills (SGOV or BIL) and the 10-year Treasury (IEF). If we compare SGOV to any non-...

OK, look for it there. It's not HBPP.

Re: Crypto (IBIT) Vs. Gold (IAUM): Which Is The Better Hedge?

bitcoin hadn’t proven itself to be a hedge to anything . if anything it’s traded like a tech stock following them up and down . gold is a far better hedge and has proven itself over and over to be better at the last two decades than bonds have been SECONDED !!! If you want BTC as a small part of yo...

Even if those factories magically appeared, the companies would struggle to staff them... a large number of Americans would fail pre-employment drug screens and background checks.

International vs US bond momentum

I noticed the IGOV international sovereign bond ETF is beating IEF US Treasury 7-10 year bond ETF. I'm taking the unweighted average of 1, 3, 6, and 12 month total returns. The downturn in US bond performance is very recent.

US considering delisting Chinese stocks

"President Donald Trump is reportedly looking into possibly delisting Chinese public companies from US exchanges, per Fox News". I had a bit of a panic because I own some IEMG, but then I read this: "The iShares Core MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (IEMG) is a U.S.-domiciled fund that trade...

TLT vs SCHQ - total

Both are US long bond ETFs. TLT is priced about 3x per share more than SCHQ. So, for a given Dollar amount, you obviously have to buy about 3x more shares of SCHQ. They both have 30-day median bid-ask spreads in the same range... 3 basis points for SCHQ, 4 basis points for TLT. Both trade for free a...

THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY !!! DJT

How many centuries would Martha Stewart be sent to jail for if her insider trading approached the scale of what was seen today?

ooof, IEF is not happy today... FAFO

Sure we buy lots of stuff from the world, more than we export, but we depend on them to finance our debt.

Re: "“I’ve pulled all my money out of Treasuries” | DOGE, deficits & default?!"

April 7-9... Treasuries have suddenly stopped acting as the safe haven. Someone is a massive seller of them. China? And/or just ex-US parties in general are selling and not showing up at Treasury auctions? There is an auction today for an (almost) new ten year Treasury... they are re-opening an auct...

I really want to go back to Argentina. It has been an age since I've been to Mendoza. I'd love to tour some vineyards. I don't eat a lot of meat, but when I'm in Argentina I really enjoy it.
