Re: Censorship continued: first the Parler app then @realDonaldTrump
Because why? Because MUH FREEDUMS? Wait... doesn't the hosting organizations in all of these (absurd) examples have MUH FREEDUMS too? Could you make your point without the demeaning regional sound effects intended to paint libertarians as backward illiterates? This has been going on for quite some ...

Parler is dead if AWS decides to tear up the hosting contract. It's in Bezos' hands.

Re: Censorship continued: first the Parler app then @realDonaldTrump
People can't have it both ways... If you think that censorship by a private company of content on their platform is wrong, and their ability to censor should be limited in some way to honor "truth and beauty of individual expression (or whatever)", then you're essentially talking about a curtailment...

Buy the dip.
However, I don't need the money for a few years, I have way too much cash already, and I'm full up with stocks, bonds, BITCOIN, miners, silver... so gold it is. I guess if I had a hole elsewhere in my allocation I might not be buying gold.

Re: So much for the anonymity of Bitcoin
Historically, BTC and Gold aren't correlated. GBTC and GLD 13% correlation. Remember - things happen in the markets then the news media makes up a story to "explain" what just happened. It's no different here. Gold has been correcting because it needed to. BTC took off because it needed to. The stat...

Re: What's up with Paypal and bitcoin?
What’s a hot wallet? A hot wallet is a repository from which coins can be sent immediately. A vault (like Coinbase's) is near-line storage where hopefully the time delay in getting the coins ready for dispatch will allow the owner to report an on-going theft. Cold storage is having the coin totally...

Re: What's up with Paypal and bitcoin?
Once comfortable, consider holding your own coins as it prevents exchange/custodial risks. Similar to Harry recommending holding physical gold. I'm not at all comfortable about the risks of an IT failure or a loss of keys failure if I hold my own coins in a private wallet. At least Coinbase has a p...

Re: What's up with Paypal and bitcoin?
I'm on Coinbase. They let me put my coins in deep(er) vault storage storage. 1. two approvers to take coins out 2. 48 hour wait period, and you get emailed as the clock counts down 3. Coinbase lets me use the Yubico (or similar) hardware key which goes into a USB slot. No key - no access to the acco...

Also, if your motivation is #SJW #politicalcorrectness #greennewdeal ;) you may be able to buy 100% renewable contracts in your State. Here in Texas, we've had a 100% wind contract for what, 17 years? A small premium over the standard contract. And now, Texas leads the nation in the wind install bas...

Maybe the "I Desert" portfolio. Substitute the 10 year Treasuries with I-Bonds.

All I know about SEER is a bigger number is more expensive and physically larger! But way more efficient, when going from the original 10 to the 15 range years ago my bills dropped like a stone. The payback was 3 years. Of course... Texas not New England.

Re: New iBond rate 1.68%
Just FYI..... There's no need to buy I Bonds until the end of the month, because you get credit for the entire month of interest no matter when in the month you buy. Of course, it's not like you're going to miss out on any significant amount of interest by doing that this year. Thanks about beg/end...

When my tactical portfolio go risk-off someday, I will have ample opportunity to sell VTI, VWO, and other ETFs and buy IEF the risk-off asset across several accounts on Fid and Sch. That will be interesting.

I just bought my 2021 I-Bonds, I now have $99,740 in I-Bonds. My first bunch of 2016 I-Bonds will become liquid in April 2021. I'm going to keep growing and growing this pile. I want this to be my dominant form of cash equivalent.

Re: What is the most anyone has paid for a bitcoin?
Funny that some of you here are proud you never bought bitcoin. Isn't the idea of investing to grow your capital? I bought most of my bitcoin in 2014 and never sold. Happy to be not in the $0 club. I wish I had been more persistent in 2014. I thought about buying some as an experiment ~2014, but di...

Are you buying or leasing? Leases are often heads we win, tails you lose. If leasing, and the scheme doesn't generate net cash flow (because the estimates were wrong), and you have to make lease payments, but you refuse to or can't, is a lien placed on your house which prevents you from selling it? ...
