Re: The GOLD scream room
I must say after two negative years, it is fun to watch gold's big up trend these past days make the nay sayers uncomfortable.

Re: Poll: The Great Inflation
They can say QE3 ended, but who is buying the over 1 trillion of new debt we added over the last year? Banks, investors seeking safety. PP denizens. The usual. The increase in debt didn't stop in October. The deficit has been shrinking, but I expect you are right that it is still positive (i.e. o...

I recommend buying one ounce Krugerrands or one ounce Eagles.
Re: Gold FAQ
The link in the first post doesn't work. I'm wondering if someone could restore or fix it?

Re: Figuring Out Religion
Later on, when I have some more time, I will try to respond to some of the questions here. For now, I would recommend you taking a look at the Catechism of the Catholic Church to get an overview of what we believe and why we believe it. There will be much there that other Christians would agree wi...

Re: Buy Gold Coins At Spot
In case anyone is interested - I checked Gainesville Coin website this afternoon and I see they are selling Austrian 100 Corona coins for spot. Normally these coins go for about $10-14 over spot. FYI - these coins contain 0.96 oz gold and normally you can sell them for a little under spot so they ...

Re: Poll: The Great Inflation
So why don't we have higher rates despite the Guns 'n Butter of the last 12 years? I believe those rates have been kept down by the Fed purchasing any unsold bonds, thus the rates do not have to go up to attract private market buyers. QE3 ended in October, and 30-year treasury rates, which many sai...

Re: Poll: The Great Inflation
From my knowledge of the period, it was guns and butter. We couldn't find the money through borrowing or taxation. So the Federal Reserve increased the money supply, and the net effect was an increase in prices. So why don't we have higher rates despite the Guns 'n Butter of the last 12 years? I ...

Re: Jim Rickards Says Stock Market Collapse Inevitable And Probably Coming Soon
I like James Rickards. He seems very calm and thoughtful. Also, his mantra is to be diversified. I believe he does say no more than 20% in gold, which I disagree with. But he is consistent and doesn't promote market timing...quite the contrary.

Re: A Simpler Easier Permanent Portfolio
I have a hard time putting 25% of my money in cash. Instead, last year I put my cash allocation like this: 80% Wellesley Income and 20% gold. I know it's not as robust from a counterparty risk standpoint but it should be slow steady grower, sort of like a PP within a PP. I just played around wi...
