Re: How Are You Doing In PP?
Gold may be overpriced... but maybe not. I think there is more downside risk than upside, so I trim my sails. I don't speculate. I invest. I don't hop in and out. Don't describe my intentions falsely. I am happy to dollar cost average into a declining asset over a period of years Don't do this as i...

Re: How Are You Doing In PP?
For example, gold is beaten down right now, so I will start accumulating in portions as it keeps going down until it reaches 25% of my portfolio. Same idea for stock and long bond. Sure, I will miss the real low, but at least I know that I bought some on the dip. If I jump all in now, how can I ...

Re: How Are You Doing In PP?
Those who criticized me for waiting misunderstood as I am not waiting for the HBPP to crash. Plus, who knows exactly when the low really is in? What I am doing is waiting to buy the dip of each of the 3 major assess. For example, gold is beaten down right now, so I will start accumulating in porti...

Re: How Are You Doing In PP?
I want to start the my own HBPP, but it would be suicidal to put a lump sum in buying stock and long term bond right now. I bought in a while back and have been steadily reaping returns ever since. I guess it depends what you mean by suicidal. For me, personally, my ambrosia seems quite pleasant....

The right time is as they say "buy low, sell high". I'm waiting for stock and bond to crash. I am very patient.

Re: How Are You Doing In PP?
Of course that's the problem: what does the right time look like? When the world isn't in the grips of a deflationary spiral? :P The PP is about Prosperity with hedges. It's not completely neutral in the sense that you can just put it on at in any economic environment and make a profit in the sho...

Re: How Are You Doing In PP?
This statement confuses me. How can you think Stocks are a bad investment because they have kept going up AND Gold is a bad investment because it has kept going down? For stock, since it's been going straight up for 5 years since the crash (look at the charts) without a 10% correction, which is tot...

Re: How Are You Doing In PP?
I have been watching the HBPP portfolio for over 6 months because I am still not convinced due to the current environment. stock is sky high - waiting to dive back down to earth, back to dotcom bubble territory, not more than 10% correction over 5 years long term bond - rate is super low, only way ...

Re: 2014 Predictions (just for fun)
Still, at some point this 30-year dual bubble in stocks and bonds will end and how will the PP fair if its not a SHTF scenario where gold, guns and ammo becomes the currency of last resort? So don't pat yourselves on your backs too smugly just yet. I agree with MachineGhost! I have all my retireme...

Re: What happens if stocks tank?
Thanks mortalpawn, I have been wondering about the environment we are in with gold, stock, and bond, all at historic high. I am 100% cash (re-doing retirement investment) and don't want to jump in the water yet. Your comment makes a lot sense as to the gold covering the bases for situations that do...

30/60/10 vs HBPP
I was reading a forum post at bogleheads which is a discussion thread for a blog post at bogleheads blog with regards to the HBPP. http://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=138272 Someone by the alias of "Desert" suggested that a portfolio of 30% stocks / 60% inter...

Re: Is This The Time for A New PP?
I'm in the same boat as Portart. Stocks, Gold, and Bonds, all look not so attractive right now for obvious reasons. So, I guess I'll just sit on the sideline with boring cash and see. Welcome to the forum, pursh3r. Would you be willing to let us know how you became interested in the PP? As to you...

I'm in the same boat as Portart. Stocks, Gold, and Bonds, all look not so attractive right now for obvious reasons. So, I guess I'll just sit on the sideline with boring cash and see. I think I saw some posts about the possibility of all three (stocks, gold and bonds) going down at the same time....
