Re: PP and expected asset class returns

Thanks for all the replies.

Tyler, that's a fantastic website!! Do you have any portfolio charts for Singapore? I saw this link with a Singapore PP chart since 2012, but it will be interesting to see a longer term chart: https://www.drwealth.com/singapore-perm ... rformance/

PP and expected asset class returns

I came across this slide from GMO, where it shows expected real returns for next 7 years: https://www.scribd.com/document/345867371/gmo-7-year-asset-class-forecast-1q2017#fullscreen&from_embed Both US stocks and US bonds are in negative territory. Of course no one can predict the future, etc. But we...

Re: Meb Faber on CAPE

I am taking Meb's hint and buying emerging market ETF shares for my taxable brokerage account, buy and hold, except maybe sometimes some tax loss harvesting, I have done the same and one factor (of possibly many :) ) that can throw a wrench into this is the US interest rates. If interest rates go u...

Var, thanks for the suggestion.  Unfortunately that's not an option for me right now, so I will stick with Y! for a while.  Since it's only 3 calls I can also calculate returns manually once in a while.

Re: LEAPS PP

Adam, my apologies if you've mentioned this already, but where do you track your LEAPS PP performance? I have a LEAPS PP and I am tracking it in Yahoo! Finance Portfolios.  It is very inaccurate though, since the portfolio takes the last traded price (and not the current bid or ask price) and the la...

Re: Effect of Ray Dalio portfolio's popularity on PP?

Equal weight has a lot going for it for not being predictive.  You may not be the prettiest woman at the dance, but you won't be the ugliest one either.  No drama either way. Well said.  The AWP may be a case of data snooping bias that did well in the past. Will be interesting to see how AWP plays ...

Effect of Ray Dalio portfolio's popularity on PP?

Many of you may be aware of Ray Dalio's all weather portfolio.  30% Stocks, 15% Int.Bond, 40% LT Bond, 7.5% Gold, 7.5% Commodities. AWP is kinda sorta similar to PP (especially when you consider that PP assets can move away from their initial 25% allocation until next rebalance).  And similar to PP,...

Re: New V-PP with Consumer Staples instead of broad market?

Harry went in the other direction before he settled on the S&P or a total market index for stocks. That is, he selected some aggressive growth funds for maximum volatility. Thanks for the much needed perspective.  After reading your reply I am thinking that I shouldn't be looking at PP along the li...

New V-PP with Consumer Staples instead of broad market?

I have some new money to invest, but since the broad stock market has gone up quite a bit (higher than median/average PE ratio - S&P is at around 20, with median being 14.5 - see http://www.multpl.com/ ), I was thinking of buying 25% each of XLP (Consumer Staples ETF), Bonds, Cash and Gold. Has anyb...

Re: Gold options taxed more favorably?

Rickb, that's a good point about counter-party risk.  I had casually looked at 8621 before and thought it was too complex for me.  I think I need to look at it a bit more in depth.

Thanks.

Gold options taxed more favorably?

Hello PP'ers     I am a long time lurker (2 years) and this is my first post.  I have implemented PP and it's doing well this year.     My question is about gold taxation.  I don't like paying collectibles rate on it so I was looking at other ways.  Some sites online ( http://www.investmentnews.com/...
