Re: Bluff Called???

What I’d really love to see (lots of assumptions I’m making so let’s get that out of the way)…is for the Hillary case to be restarted, the Trump case to go forward and they both get a nice public day in court and let the jury do what juries do. I don’t really care guilty or not, but the principle of...

Re: Bluff Called???

IDK…but you don’t get to take classified materials home from work which is the purported reason for the search.

I’ve read some crazy stuff as to what was taken but accurate reporting who knows. If one thing in particular is true, I’m completely cool with the first ever presidential jail time.

Re: Cognitive Health of Biden vs. Trump

Fox is completely mainstream US media...toxic, non-informative and gives you 50% of a story with little to no actual reporters on staff. Same can be said about the lefties. Their job and business model is to sell news/adverts, not inform you. Normally if I watch US TV news (which is very rare), ABC ...

Re: Inflation Reduction Act

That is no longer true. Also Gen IV plants are extremely safe. I think the plants, when run properly, have always been safe. The byproduct however is dangerous. That's not even debatable. IIRC I think I read once that on the waste side the technology is such that you get a lot of waste that is low ...

Re: Cognitive Health of Biden vs. Trump

Nothing new here. The only Republican president/presidential candidate who hasn't been stupid, dumb, a rich megalomanic, uncouth, a moron, lazy, prone to naps, golf and long vacations in the last century was Eisenhower and probably the only reason he got a pass was because he was a war hero who serv...

See my reply. Looks like we hit submit at the same time. I'm actually energy agnostic. I like cheap. I like non-polluting to the max possible (balanced with cheap). I'm not a climate scientist but I live now where I grew up and I think there's something to this global warming stuff. I've got an agri...

I'm sure I'm way too stupid and uniformed (cuz i am) but to me it seems like get on a path to renewables and supplement with backup nuclear power and call it a day. If you're going to have the nuclear power, why bother with the renewables? IDK...is there any cost comparison data to say which is che...

Re: PP Inspired Leveraged Portfolios

My leveraged PP consists of 40% UPRO, 30% UBT, 30% UGL. Rebalanced yearly. So far YTD (as of 7/31/22) it's down -30.92%. Although that does suck, if you zoom out, the 3-year annualized return is 25.58%. 5-year annualized return is 23.24%. Not too shabby, but it's definitely a roller coaster ride. E...

Green vs. Fossil Fuels Subsidies in the US (you can get a lot of other numbers looking around though...but none suggest the ratio is much different) 20B vs 60B I'm completely for no subsidies for both. Re: Are most people here sticking with Treasuries?

Sounds good, back to treasuries. I've been holding to what I normally do. Buying STTs on TD and it has been pleasant watching the rates go up each month for the most part. I'd like to see a return to market based pricing vs. the Fed hovering everything up to keep them artificially low. My other comm...

Re: PP Inspired Leveraged Portfolios

This thread has been dormant for a while so I thought I would refresh it. Need to do the bad with the former good...through 7/31/22 with quarterly rebalance UST/TQQQ/VGSH 70/20/10 (The bullet) VGSH/TQQQ/TMF/DGP 44/25/12.5/18.5 (The barbell) - Note the change from UGLD to DGP and the change in weight...

Re: The Left is Eating Itself Pt. II

The bus thing is truly brilliant politics. My hat's off to whoever thought of it. Can anyone point to something that indicates the scale of it? Was it a one trick/trip pony with lots of media coverage, daily buses to liberal cities or something in between? (e.g. a media show or are they actually doi...

Re: Quality Time Left

I use TD exclusively for USG debt and match expiration to need. In my case I have money invested monthly and withdraw annually. I have a spreadsheet that lists out what length to buy and what length to roll to when it is maturing. My max is 26 weeks as I need the money before a full year is up. So i...

Re: Why did Pelosi cross the road?

Getting a bit OT but hey why not? It's not a totally American thing, more of an "I'm special" one I think, but I find it incredible when people go into a foreign country and think US (or pick a western country) rules and customs apply and particularly so in countries that are known to lean authorita...

Re: Are most people here sticking with Treasuries?

I don’t have data for the Russian stock market prior to 1917, but I think I can tell you how it did after that. The Soviets absolutely loved gold (really they did). Non-senior communist gold holders, not so much. Oftentimes there was a lead for gold exchange which was kinetic in nature. Throw in Ch...

Pug and glennds...good poke backs and I always enjoy humorous poke backs even if I'm the target. A couple of thoughts... How about Australia last year, particularly Victoria? Another example of democracy KBG? When they imprison mothers of small children that post on Facebook against the government narrative, that's fascism in my book. Not to add fuel to this fire, but it does seem like something is wrong in Australia...

How is Taiwan not already Chinese, what is different about living on the island vs mainland. Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, North Korea have enslaved their populations via "covid" and Canada is next.
