Re: The GOLD scream room

mj,

You used to trade into and out of TLT and gold quite a lot in the past. Have you pulled back from that? Seems like a lot of volatile opportunities lately!

In shorter time frames VTI is about = to SPY.

Maxed out, Total Stocks seem to be doing better.

Re: The GOLD scream room

I started this last January when I broke up the pp and we had the inflation spike starting . It is basically my insight model but with an inflation hedge and I lightened up the bond side with fsrrx. after getting stung in the pp i wanted to be as interest rate dependent free as i could without tota...

Re: The GOLD scream room

dockinGA, I love MJ because he makes me question what I am doing all the time which is good. He's had (we've had), 13 years now of relentless up in the stock market. Unprecedented I think (maybe I am wrong). I mean look at the chart. At the same time, of course depending on your start point, gold at...

Re: Dip Buying the PP

There used to be a PP website called peak to trough that allowed you to adjust frequency of rebalancing to see the effects. Generally if I recall, the more you rebalance, the lower the return was. I have not looked at Tyler's Portfolio Charts in a while and do not recall if he has anything similar, ...

Re: Dip Buying the PP

Maybe set your rebalance bands tighter so you are rebalancing more often, and not necessarily when you emotionally think it's a good time is my suggestion.

Like today...stocks look like a good buy, but you never know. There's a whole weekend for this new variant news to get potentially worse.

Re: Reasons why I will not be getting injected for the Wuhan

I hate the internet. I honestly think my life was better before it was ubiquitous. In many ways, I totally agree. Work related, though, I am sitting here designing a PCB. I need to add a new part. The schematic/layout software I use is tied into all the major distributors of parts. I search for a f...

Check out who is missing from top ten politicians searched in 2020. Mitt Romney made it. Rewriting history. https://trends.google.com/trends/yis/2020/US/ The fact that Google thinks this is okay makes me shudder. I use Google search almost exclusively. I normally don't look at the politics section anymore, but I did want to ask a couple things. I need to say I purposely do not watch much news anymore, even though this was happening less than 50 miles from where I live. So I am asking not to get shit upon here but looking for a better understanding...

My two cents, Ivermectin is the current anti-vax drug topic of choice, right? And the man/govt is holding it down because it is cheap and effective, right? Then why are there 81 ongoing and completed trials on Ivermectin? https://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?cond=COVID-19&term=ivermectin&cntry...

Re: The GOLD scream room

We always know only one day of a gold selloff never happens. We also know gold never rides up high for any length of time without getting spanked. I know MJ was good at pulling the trigger on trading these events, and I tell ya, i am almost interested in doing some side options to take advantage. Th...

Re: The GOLD scream room

I look at this as a positive. I rebalance in early Jan. If this continues, it will allow me to capture even more gains in stocks and roll even more of that over to gold, silver and bonds. Maybe that is a foolish rebalance, but I am going to let the PP do its thing. And it is still over $1800 which a...

Re: Stock Certificates

If this is true....would it not make sense to contact some securities attorney? I'm sure there'd be no charge for the initial consultation just to describe the issue. Then the attorney could tell you the probabilities are of turning them into anything of value and what the attorney's fees would ran...

I own Kirkland lake. They are essentially being purchased by agnico. I received paperwork requiring a signature to indicate that I accept the offer of about 0.8 shares of AEM for each KL share. The AEM shares are offered as consideration to zero out the KL shares. Reading on the paperwork, there is...

Related -- my wife's uncle died last year. We found First Chicago, real paper shares in his safe deposit box. We contacted Computershare, the transfer agent for Chase (which is what First Chicago became after a couple name changes along the way) and gave them $300 to research the certs. They said th...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Western culture as a whole generally hasn't reacted like this to diseases I agree, but there was never anything close to the 24/7 minute/hourly/daily news cycle that we are currently living in, of any view that you care to agree or disagree with. It's probably hard not to become OCD about Covid (or...

The pessimistic view sure is in abundance here! My older daughter just accepted a job offer that will start in August 2022, in person. My younger is finishing up college apps. My daughter is a third grade teacher, and I asked her if her class this year was either intellectually or socially worse than previous years. Not surprisingly the answer was yes to both.
