Re: High cost gold depositories are you giving your gold away

Hi all, been a while! Ocho, I have used this company for about 5 months and successfully have sent them a number of physical shipments. The company has been around a while, and the CEO has a good reputation in the gold community. I have been sitting on my gold and silver for 15+ years. I figured I'd...

Re: The GOLD scream room

So when does gold catch a bid? Dow is down -321 right now, 10 year interest rates are down, US Dollar is down, why is gold also down? You didn't go to the meeting? :-) Of course the current excuse is gold is being sold to cover the margin calls of the other holdings or some such like that. It will ...

Re: When is it time to load up on bonds.

From Bloomberg: Speculators timed it just about perfectly before Friday’s strong US payrolls data, adding the most to their bets against benchmark Treasuries in just over a year. Net-short leveraged fund positions in 10-year futures climbed by almost 150,000 contracts in the week to last Tuesday, ac...

Re: When is it time to load up on bonds.

I've been buying max duration LTT's at the moment. I am going with the thesis that the yield curve inversions are telling us something significant. I repeat the inverted yield curve is telling us the world may be about to implode. How many other times was it implying the same and how many of those ...

Re: Covered Call ETFs

I own DIVO and JEPI and IDVO.

I decided if I am going to have anything at risk in the market, it better darn well pay me ongoing for that risk vs. just a growth potential.

We'll see, some days I'm elated to say "the market went down but I MADE money", some days I'm just staring at an ETF and willing it with my mind to "go UPPPPP/DOWNNNNN" (depending on if it is a "put" or a "call").
Yeah. I did the same. I don't anymore. I truly do not miss it at all.

401k In Service Rollover Question

I am 55 and attempting to rollover my 401k to my traditional IRA. As best I read many financial websites and IRS pages, there is nothing in writing that I can find that prevents me from doing an in-service rollover from my 401k to my traditional IRA before 59.5 other than the plan manager may not al...

Re: The Results of 6 months of Options Trading (Covered Calls/Puts)

I sold puts and calls early 2022 through about April. I did fine, but in the end the time and anxiousness (esp. when trading weekly ones) was not worth it to me. Instead, for some portion of my net worth, I own DIVO and JEPI, both are dividend focused funds that write calls on some of their holdings...

Re: When is it time to load up on bonds.

One guys' commentary I do still read is Hussman. The article linked below is the latest. A couple quotes stood out: I feel kind of bad for Hussman. Yes, I used to read him too, but as far as I can see he's never really recovered from the beating he took after the Global Financial Crisis (when he di...

One guys' commentary I do still read is Hussman. The article linked below is the latest. A couple quotes stood out: "Over the past year, the S&P 500 has retreated only modestly from its January 2022 speculative peak, yet interest rates have normalized to a much greater extent. That, in my view, is p...

Re: When is it time to load up on bonds.

I don’t disagree, PS, but if 2000 and 2008 taught me anything, it’s that whatever plans are hoped for will deviate, probably significantly, and sooner than ever anticipated, and I’d rather be early and get my 100 year 6% coupons. But if we end 2023 and FFR is at 6% or something, I will be gnashing m...

Re: When is it time to load up on bonds.

I hope I, and you, are right, PS. On a related note, since moving into bonds full bore, I have also tuned out a variety of generally bearish financial websites I used to read, going on three weeks now. Helps. I look at my accounts and see the underlying bond values in total go up a few thousand ever...

Re: Would you buy an even longer bond?

I have recently bought a number of 40 to 100 year make whole bonds, for retirement income purposes. Duration is not much different than 30 year treasuries, I assume because of the higher coupon. Each are a maximum of 1% of my net worth, and I'm trying to diversify sectors. In the end I hope to hold ...

Re: When is it time to load up on bonds.

I have also started getting back into bonds, but with a twist, since I am ~4 years from at least a semi-retirement. I am taking advantage of higher long term (30+ years) investment grade individual corporate bonds as I am moving toward wanting known income in retirement. My plan over the next few mo...

Yeah. For whatever reason I got an email note on this thread about a new post (I've not looked at it ever prior) and it brought me to the top of page two. Without me seeing it was a completely different starting point!

Re: The Fourth Branch of Government

The Democrats are hitting hard on the abortion front which has weirdly allowed their ads to take the position of their party being the party of "freedom" and "bodily autonomy" not even a year after most of them believed people who declined vaccinations should lose their jobs. The whole my body, my ...

Re: The Fourth Branch of Government

Sounds about right...good for advertisers though. Can't wait till these ads are over. Seems, here in IL, the major focus is abortion. If you go by the ads, all Dems are willing to rip the baby out and kill it a day before normal delivery, and all Republicans want every baby born, regardless of who ...

My grocery store has a peanut butter maker that you can go and put peanuts in (available nearby). It grinds them up into peanut butter and puts it in a container that you go and pay for at checkout. Do you guys not have something like that? The ones by me already have peanuts in the machine, and I ...

Probably a tie, if not better in taste than Teddies (but I am lazy...) is blending these Costco pea...
