Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?

All I wanted was a person who marginally improves the American condition, in whatever respects are important to you, and was someone who my kids and I could at least respect, if not look up to. I think he's done some good things, but has failed on the debt, as it seems all presidents of either party...

Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?

Doodle, breathe...! I feel the same way. Then there are days I think everyone is out to get him, which is fine, but they have to do it in the most open and clear way possible, which they have not been and it frustrates me. Democrats seem to have been shooting themselves in the foot with these invest...

Re: American Eagle or Canadian Maple Leaf?

I look for the lowest premium, which has usually been on Krugerrands in the past. I think they are all nice looking and I have some of each. Panda's are nice too.

Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?

Sometimes he's funny, unintentionally I assume: As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom , consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!). They must, with Euro...

Re: Gold / Stock / Bonds at highs or near highs?

Another strategy: wait until the PP as a whole goes through a negative performing couple of months and then buy in. This is a great idea. I disagree. I think this is a terrible idea. What if the next time the PP has sustained negative returns is 10 years from now? You think waiting 10 years for tha...

Re: Boglehead topic best watch for $5000

Sunglasses and watches: I buy mine cheap and disposable. My current Timex watch is about 10 years old, still the original battery. When it hits a door jamb and gets scratched or dinged, I go darn, and forget about it. Something like that happening to a Rolex, yikes. Sunglasses, $7.00 aviator style f...

Re: Ukranian phone call

Okay, I've been trying to make heads or tails out of this whole situation. It seems that the Biden family may have used the leverage of US military aid to Ukraine for personal gain: specifically in order to get a prosecutor fired and/or a case dropped. Trump asked the Ukranian president to help inv...

Re: Gold / Stock / Bonds at highs or near highs?

Nasty day today for gold and long term treasuries....this is what scares me about the way they seem to be joined at the hip...the supposed yin and yang can be quite powerful and nasty when things that are supposedly uncorrelated stay bedfellows Does anyone here know if an analysis has been done of ...

Re: Stock scream room

What I think of technical analysis is that it works, but the machines/algorithms see the crossovers, trend line breaks, etc, a gazillion times faster than humans, so unless you have an automated system directly connected to the market like HFT firms do, you are fighting a losing battle. Fundamental ...

Re: Stock scream room

pmward, I have read through Sophie's responses, and none sound like an attack, more like her strong opinion. I don't think she's going to try to convert 100% of your allocation to the pp. That said, I am 52. Not sure how old you are. I have tried it all, day trading, options, spreads, covered calls,...

Re: The Permanent Supplement Regime

If I could go back and change one thing about history, it would be to wipe out Ancel Keyes. He should have been fired and forced to retract his papers, given all the scientific misconduct (cherry-picking data) and logical flaws (e.g. ignoring the effect of cigarette smoking). Yes! Even now, though ...

Re: The GOLD scream room

Anyone buying physical metals over the weekend in response to recent events in the Middle East? I came close at least three times but held back. I would buy at 1300/oz. That has nothing to do with analysis (although you all know I’m a huge fan), but it would be a good spot for lowering my avg cost....
