Re: The GOLD scream room

(seajay)I see 2023 as a year with 50/50 probability of either stocks or gold being up/down. Such that starting the year with equal amounts of both is as good-as-any a choice
I’ve never been able to hold enough gold. For the pp, yes, but not for pp+vp.
Your post is heartening.

Re: The GOLD scream room

Gold is starting the year with gains.

Gold purchases by everyone from central banks to institutions and ordinary investors have lifted the precious metal in 12 of the past 16 sessions, according to Dow Jones Market Data.

Re: New Ideas about Sleep

Once you get past about 55yo you can't sleep to when you want, or stay up 'til whenever for that matter. At least for me, I feel like absolute crap all day if I get less than 6.5 hours sleep, so doing that intentionally is not going to happen. I’m not quite there yet in age but I noticed my sleep i...

Re: New Ideas about Sleep

Jocko is the Art of Manliness guy? I wonder if he derived his name from Devo’s ‘Jocko Homo’ (“Are we not men?”) … So what I've been doing is setting an alarm every day, and if I'm not asleep in time to get 7.5+, I'll stay awake long enough to make it a <6 hour sleep. Sounds kind of like intermittent...

One might think so if it were short, but it goes on and on. You can see comments beneath, with the author’s responses.

I didn’t realize until today that you can get the silver Britannia with either Queen Elizabeth or King Charles on the obverse.
I think the King Charles ones are pre-orders.

Re: Old Computers

I took all the hard drives out of about six computers. Also took out all the CD-ROM drives. Then put then at the end of my driveway. I was shocked at how quickly they were taken. I remember seeing a fellow doing something like that in Vancouver... no one took the machines because it rains so much i...

All That Glitters (J.D. Roth 2020 essay)

Mark recently linked to this piece as a way to ID which J.D. Roth we were talking about in another thread. For what it’s worth, I think it’s an excellent essay. The bit about his father “investing” in gold when he could barely put food on the table struck a chord, especially. Not because my Dad is l...

There are some old games I really want to play.

Shogo, Rainbox Six, Swat 2, Warcraft 2, and others.

I was thinking of buying an old Windows XP machine so that I could play them natively again.
Have you used an emulator and played them non-natively?
