Gold is special!

Unrelated: I don’t know if it’ll have an impact, but you can point them to plenty of studies showing that microwave ovens are safe if used properly. O0

Re: What % of your portfolio is in tax advantaged space?

I think Roth IRA’s are best stretched out with stocks at the beginning, and I wish I had ignored bogleheads’ asdvice to put bonds in there. However, there may come a time when you want bonds and or cash in that space. Stocks can be inherited with a favorable basis step-up, but if income producing bo...

If I traded paper gold and silver, I’d probably do some swapping.

Re: What % of your portfolio is in tax advantaged space?

I just added up about 20% in retirement accounts. There are some things I didn’t add because it’s not space , but I would like to point out that physical gold has a tax advantage in that the value can grow as it sits there with no tax to pay (and nothing to even report). Ditto for Berkshire shares. ...

It has been interesting watching gold work as an inflation indicator as always.

Portfolio wise things look good and I need to rebalance from gold. I overweight stocks with my VP and they have been pulling their own so no complaints.

Austin Petersen

What do you guys think of this post? (Never mind the Greenland part, unless you really want to mind it). I’m not a Trumper, but I like how he describe’s Paul’s stance as “a necessary response to neoconservat[ive] idealism of the early 2000’s” and goes on to say it doesn’t work and hasn’t worked. htt...

Re: 💼 Cash Management in HB-PP: To Rebalance or Not? 🔄

Of course it’s not just about liquidity, as you noted when you wrote potentially reducing portfolio returns I have a lot of stocks in vp, so it’s easy for me to hold lots of cash in the pp (way more than 10% of pp) It does feel good to have cash when stocks come way down and stay down. I would eithe...

@Perplexity, Vinny’s post above appears to be a very long complaint about searching and/or Tolstoy’s writing style.

Re: Worthwhile article on gold

I wonder where the banks would hold the reserves. Not where they currently do business, right? They’ve been shedding safe deposit box services, and anyway it would invite more crime. So just some separate, largely undisclosed location?

Sorry, just thinking out loud. It’s not a serious question .

I’d forgotten about this thread.

Not voting- doesn’t that only work if you can convince a significant majority not to?
Otherwise, it’s just denying yourself the choice while everyone else takes advantage.
