Ha! I was just thinking of them. I just read something about them giving up oil-free bricks, for now.

Re: Broken Promises Have Consequences: hundreds of thousands dead, no end in sight

The media wants us to think that Putin has designs on expanding the Russian empire back to Soviet limits. Zero evidence is ever produced for these assertions, His own speeches aren’t good enough evidence for you? Because they’ve been referenced here several times over the past few years. I don’t kn...

Re: Is Germany Getting Ready for Another Demagogue?

Thank you, stuper, for stepping down to my level so that I could understand. I and perhaps all those who are down here with me still have some reservations, but we appreciate your efforts.

Re: Is Germany Getting Ready for Another Demagogue?

No, i get that it’s all our fault. You’re consistent on that. Where you are not consistent is in the area of how likely it’s going to happen. You can say it’s all propaganda, or you can say “sure, Putin will do that if he feels threatened.” You can’t say both. It feels like you think that if it’s th...

Don't worry about {the nuclear threat}; that's just ridiculous propaganda.

If Russia feels its under threat of losing badly, then sure, they very well may use nuclear weapons.

Re: Is Germany Getting Ready for Another Demagogue?

… Some of you guys are unbelievable. We have hundreds of thousands of people dead in Ukraine, who would be alive right now if the US could just live with having its missiles 500 miles farther from Moscow,… If you think those figures are bad, you should check out the new report from RAND. Re: Is Germany Getting Ready for Another Demagogue?

That’s a lot of sarcasm to cut through. You’re very prolific today, stuper. Did someone discover 5-hour energy? O0 I think this came up before, but no one said anything against the Russian people. Nobody mistakes the Russian populace with Putin. Your first clue is that he kills them , even when they...

Yeah, Taiwan is a tricky one, stuper. Especially for me, because I have friends and relatives there. It’s hard for me to be unbiased and to think abstractly about it because I lived there. For years. From what i’ve read, if China bides its time, the U.S. may come to point where they are no longer wi...

Re: Chas Freeman, US Diplomat, on the Ukraine War

No idea how it’s going to play out, but Ukraine needs to show results before the west grows weary of funding in. The Russians have adapted. Surely you're not suggesting that the west is only in this for their own interests? I thought the west was funding Ukraine out of the goodness of its heart due...

Re: Is Germany Getting Ready for Another Demagogue?

Before power there is survival and defense, and yes, sometimes paranoia is built into that. But I agree, essentially, in that money and power are a strong pull. Still, there are powerful nations on both sides with which a smaller nation of lesser power could align. There are choices, and ideology do...

Re: Is Germany Getting Ready for Another Demagogue?

When did it become okay for civilians to be wantonly slaughtered? When have they ever not been slaughtered? When has that not been part of war? Sadly,it often is. Nobody ever talks about this. I guess you must have been an eyewitness then. Sure, you won’t see it in a Michael Bay film, but it is dis...

Sorry for throwing that description at you, Vinny. O0 I used the Vanguard interface, it asked how many shares, I clicked 100 (or whatever), and bought them and collected dividends (which might also be called something else, who knows). And one day I got the K-1. At no point did the interface say “by...

Every once in a while, I or a family member own an individual stock which requires a K-1 filing. I have an accountant and merely have to find it and submit it but sometimes even that is a headache. There was some stock my Dad owned that simply did not give it up on the website. I tried downloading, ...

whatchamacallit’s thread on Gundlach is what got us looking at commodities. I started this thread to not hijack that one.
