I’ve told Boglerdude a half a dozen times that this is not reddit, but he continues to use the eli5 abbreviation as if it’s standard English and all the fogies here would just know. Irony. This is the Explain Like I’m 55 forum. O0

Right, I mean even though Microsoft does a little hardware, it has mainly been a software company for all those PC clones.
Apple has always been the complete package, hardware & software made for each other.
Pros and cons.

*Notice how Windows will run on a Dell, Acer, Compaq, eMachines, etc. Android will run on a Samsung, LG, Motorola, etc. What else will iOS run on? You can thank IBM for that. I missed *you*, Vil. Never mind my 12K posts of filler and fluff. O0 So far I’m the lone bear in the poll. I think the universal belief in the rising stock market is a sign. I really appreciate the follow-up, Kevin. Yes! Those rules you posted are right on. You know the zen koan in which the zen master says “when you drink a cup of tea and when I drink a cup of tea it’s not the same thing”? When I watched ETHE (the ethereum fund) double in a month, I did not experience ...

Re: A worthwhile read for all PP'ers

So what's up for discussion here is whether half of the PP's assets need to be modified or replaced in light of current realities. Ok. Replaced with what? Crypto sure looks tempting right now. I have a small amount in ETHE (Grayscale Ethereum) that swings up and down but currently is at 100% profit...

Serious question. Is there company besides microstrategy and Tesla that is exclusively buying and selling crypto for profit? … Square is one. Re: A worthwhile read for all PP'ers

Cullen Roche states that gold is difficult to transport and that “bitcoin and crypto fixes that.” I can certainly see an advantage of bitcoin over dollars if, say, Mexican immigrants or migrant workers want to to send money home to Mexico and if, for whatever reason, they don’t want it to be tracked...

I recently paid for a portfolio second opinion done by an FA who's a protégé of the well-known investment author Rick Ferri. I knew of course that he was a Boglehead through-and-through but the review ended up being worth the price anyway … I think about doing that sometimes. Maybe that Allan Roth ...

Re: Treasury Bond Buying Tutorial

I think you’re right, but things have changed since then anyway. Craig mentions Vanguard’s “Bond Desk” and I don’t think they even use the term anymore. You used to have to call to order bonds, hence the desk. There’s some good info on page 8, beginning with Krieg’s post. I would post a tutorial if...
