Re: BOA - $20 an hour

That's why labor needs to ORGANIZE. It's not doing so now currently. Organize and do what ? That was what the Joker GIF was saying... what does the power to go on strike mean when you aren't needed to do the work in the first place? Massive corporations can easily play countries against each other ...

Re: BOA - $20 an hour

I don’t know I follow. Most of the time, innovators or inventors are simply a higher wage form of labor. You’re talking engineers here. Not ceo’s usually. It is capital, not high-wage labor, that is the enemy of labor. And capital doesn’t invent. It just supplies capital. I was trying to say that i...

Re: BOA - $20 an hour

I've actually considered incorporating and going to my boss and offering him a Independent Contractor arrangement on that basis alone. That would almost certainly be a big win for you, but your boss might not go for it. That could potentially hurt his own Qualified Business Income deduction. He pro...

Re: BOA - $20 an hour

Not always, but usually, where does that capital come from? Innovation and/or some other type of hard work coupled with vision. Why should that be the enemy of labor? If there was no capital, there would be no jobs. Capital (in the form of physical assets themselves... machinery, not the transfers ...

Re: The Left is Eating Itself Pt. II

I've wondered what effect the transgender craze will have on Olympic women's competition. If a (former) man could get classified as a women, he'd have a huge advantage in most sports, everything from skiing to running to figure skating. I'd be surprised if no one's figured that out yet. I can't wai...

Re: BOA - $20 an hour

I keep coming back to the idea that labor really doesn't have any leverage. Except for the power to pull a crab back into the bucket. They can't force people to innovate and invent, they can only force them to share the rewards (in our current system). https://media1.tenor.com/images/6ad053d3c9f780...

Re: Assange

Do we really see Trump doing something favorable for Assange after Pompeo called them a "non-state hostile intelligence service?"

I mean Assange is basically a hulked-out version of Snowden... and Trump wanted to execute Snowden.

Re: Assange

My feelings are complicated on this one. I can see the argument that his actions releasing classified information harmed the United States and deserves punishment. I can also see the argument that he's no different than a journalist that does this all the time with zero fear of any repercussions. A...

Re: Ross Ulbrecht and The Silk Road

Is there anything recent at or should I be looking for older articles? Joe Rogan's interview with an advocate for him is very interesting. Alex Winter. He did a documentary on him that I'm enticed to see. But that was from before he was sentenced. There are videos of his mother on Youtube that are ...

Re: Ross Ulbrecht and The Silk Road

I read about it a long time ago, but I don't remember there being a controversy. IIRC he tried to hire a hitman who scammed him and the authorities eventually nabbed him at a library You should do more research on it if you're so inclined. The "authorities" made that claim to limit his options and ...

Ross Ulbrecht and The Silk Road

Has anyone here followed the trial/conviction/controversy around Ross Ulbricht? I only recently fell into it and it's one hell of a terrifying/fascinating story with lots of similarities to the whole Making a Murderer saga. This should be far-more in covered than it is. I encourage everyone to do th...
