Re: GOP defending Confederate legacy?

I agree, the whole "state government" thing was just a convenient better sounding BS argument that they could use to rationalize the true reason they went to war. They wanted states to have power because their state would allow them to continue to pursue their selfish dehumanizing actions. American...

Re: Being supportive of rioters

More important than decrying the behavior of individuals is ultimately what the local, state and federal governments should do... As a resident very near Mpls, I'd like to see that corrupt police department taken apart like a failed lego project... and while I hate most of the destruction and lootin...

Re: Another angle on the recent events in America and the world

Before it gets to the point of military vs citizens, said citizens will have been thoroughly demonized so that it will be much easier for the state’s agents to act in good conscience. An inexact example would be David Koresh and the rest at Waco. Or Jews in Germany, intellectuals in Russia and lots...

Re: EE Bonds = 3.5% 20-Year Treasury

If you hold EE bonds for 20 years they are guaranteed to double. So they have a guaranteed rate of 3.5% (if held that long). Obviously not a good deal if we ever had a reoccurrence of that inflation similar to the mid-60s to early 80s time period. Vinny Well of course any long-term bond, or even ju...

EE Bonds = 3.5% 20-Year Treasury

Anybody been re-exploring the idea of using EE Bonds as a sort of deep-bond/cash hedge for an accumulation strategy? The big idea was a few years ago that the doubling of value of an EE bond over 20 years represents a 3.5% compound RoR vs the 1.13% currently paying out on actual treasuries, and has ...

Re: Dog Training - Aggressive/Defensive Tendencies

Moda, congrats on the new addition to your family. As someone who has adopted quite a few dogs, I think you are correct with your comment, "He's probably had a sordid past, like many "rescues," and he's from Mexico." I'm not sure that the Mexico part means anything unless he was running wild on the...

Dog Training - Aggressive/Defensive Tendencies

Hi All, I figured maybe members of this board could enlighten me how to handle a situation, either via a good book, training regimen (even if I have to pay for it online or something), etc. We just adopted a rescue dog, and he's about 9 months old, a terrier mix, and is extremely well-behaved on sev...

Re: The political re-alignment of our time

You know, when you announce that your entire family is on Medicaid while simultaneously posting about the joys of early retirement and the creative ways in which your considerable assets and talents are being invested, you sort of disqualify yourself from the soapbox when it comes to the question o...
