Re: The Bottom is Nearer...
Agreed, these are the signs to look for. The bottom will be in when there are no articles even being written cause everyone went away and no one cares, total capitulation... We might be close in the junior gold mining/explorer stocks, I thought we were there last year when things were 50% higher tha...

Re: PP facelift
I agree with the previous posters that past returns and backtesting has no bearing or guarantee in the future. To echo the last post as well, if you have periods like the 2000's where gold shoots up like a rocket and stocks are flat, you'd be able to rebalance a few times into stocks and eventually ...

Re: Gold Market Manipulation is a Myth
Thoughts about this? How to Deal with CME Gold & Silver Price Capping …: http://youtu.be/Ah3yLq6zmJQ I watch the gold and silver price several times a day ( I know I'm weird) and the price action has got to be more than coincidence. There are times when the entire world supply of these metals is...

Re: modified pp + open blog about it
Jake thanks for the tip- that makes total sense. I've shuffled things accordingly and like the idea of a pp + VP much better! It might save me from stealing from the pp to rebalance my miners if there's another downturn (save me from myself?)

modified pp + open blog about it
Hey all I've created a Google finance account that approximates my modified permanent portfolio and am getting started with a blog and YouTube channel about investing. I've followed the markets with a passion about 3 years mostly in precious metals. I jumped into the pp waters this year, it was ner...

Re: Avoiding Gold Mining Stocks!
The more people go on about how terrible gold mining shares are, the more conviction I have to keep buying them on the way down. The fact that there are almost no positive articles about this sector leads me to believe the bottom is near.

Re: First DOWN year for gold since year 2000
What do you make of this? Is it relevant to anything, or just nonsense data? http://i.imgur.com/DlmYtHVl.jpg Interesting you point this chart out, it makes a good case for a bear market in gold. However: I've studied this one on and off for a few years (including dow:silver, hui:gold, gold:silver e...

Re: Ideal Overseas Gold Storage Option
I don't trust the banks as far as I can throw them. As well, I can see the US making gold ownership illegal again, their balance sheet is bad news, "We're coming..after...you!" :o On a serious note, does anyone have a list or link to where I can research if other countries have done gold ...

Re: Rebalancing CEF (while it's discounted)
I assume the discount will decrease when gold prices start increasing. Here's a question I have. Will the discount decrease be a leading indicator or a lagging indicator of the bottom on gold prices? In my experience the NAV tends to bottom somewhere between -7 and -10 % NAV. That is THE indicato...

Rebalancing CEF (while it's discounted)
Anyone else getting primed and ready to buy more CEF? Another 10% punch to the metals and I'll be looking to get some more. It's interesting that the fund is trading -7% to it's NAV , I'm in the accumulation stage and spent most of this year buying at a major discount , I'd estimate I averaged in at...
