Re: The Risk Parity PP

Mathjak107 You know, I have now read your many responses and the premise to this thread.  I cannot argue with logic, I am 50, so probably still have 10-15 years left to accumulate.  I have been in the PP for a couple of years and agree, I have just preserved what I have, not much gain.  My initial p...

Re: best etf for cash?

I own BIL as my cash portion.  It is all in a tax advantaged IRA account, so in reality is not liquid.  My question is if I am using BIL as my CASH portion and my emergency fund, would it be better to have this in a taxable account for liquidity in case of an emergency or just keep it where it is?

Re: If I go PP, do I still need a Cash Emergency Fund?

So for the emergency fund, it is best to just have it all in a MM fund or T-bills ETF BUT in a taxable account, correct?  The reason for the taxable account is because of liquidity, correct?

Re: If I go PP, do I still need a Cash Emergency Fund?

What ETF would you recommend as CASH for the taxable account/emergency fund?
I am presently using VMLTX which is liquid and pays off dividends tax deferred.  All my other CASH is in BIL in tax advantaged accounts presently.
Any thoughts on this?

Re: Reits as a % of the variable portfolio?

Well you may be right in that VTI has REITS, but VXF has a higher % in REITS, so I may just use this ETF for my Stock portion of the 4 x 25, instead of buying REITS separately.

Reits as a % of the variable portfolio?

Does anyone here add Reits (eg  VNQ) as a % to the 4 x25?
If so, what %  and what does the rest of the VP look like?
If not, why is it not a good idea?  Thanks

Where to draw down from?

Just a general question
At retirement, what part of the 4 x25 does one draw from?  Sorry if this is a stupid question

Going all in for VTI??

Alright, I expect to get chewed out here for not going all in 4x25 from the outset but I have all allocated except for VTI.  If you were in my shoes (and hopefully you are not) now, what would be your strategy for entry into VTI going forward??  Thanks for the responses.

How to answer this question?

I had a discussion last night with a friend of mine about the HB PP 4x25. He does think this portfolio is a good one but his answers to my inquiries were if you have 15 years left to invest before retirement - why would you not increase the equity % and just convert your entire portfolio over to the...

Re: VT instead of VTI?

Actually I think I will create my stock  portion as 2/3 VXF and 1/3 VT.  This will give me about 5% international exposure.

For those of you who keep part of the CASH portion in your HSA, is that portion in a fund also within the HSA.

Re: Is this appropriate for my CASH holdings?

1/2 VFISX  1/2 BIL Yes this seems fine. I think 100% BIL and "scraps" of VMMXX would be better. IMO, keep it simple stupid (KISS), put practically all cash in T-bills as instructed, and move on. In one of my accounts I have 100% of my cash in VMMXX, which is not ideal, but IMO is just barely accept...

Re: Replacing Cash with VWINX, the results look juicy

Hey Ozzy

How did the Juicy Portfolio do against a traditional HPP last year?
Any way you can run/backtest your portfolio against HPP for as far back as you can?
At least for me this would be a helpful comparison.  Thank you

Is this appropriate for my CASH holdings?

1/2 VFISX  1/2 BIL

I would prefer to be all in Vanguard but the Admiral share Treasury Money Market account(VUSXX)count (is closed to new investors and right now I have all my CASH in VMMXX.  I would like to get a little yield anyway.  Any advice here?  Thanks

I though it would be interesting for only those doing the true PP to post what exactly they hold  and how they are holding it.  For example the breakdown in % of each of the 4 parts in detail.  Thanks for posting.

Re: Replacing Cash with VWINX, the results look juicy

Hello Ozzy

Wow, surprised to hear you are giving up the VWINX fund.  Here is what I have decided to go with for my portfolio:

VWENX
IAU
EDV
VIOO
IVOO
VSS                                    The percentages come out to be about 50% stocks, 35% bonds, 15% gold

Hey Ozzy
Just out of curiosity why didn't you include REITS or TIPS?
I have a modified portfolio similar to yours and will be finalizing it today so will post it later.
