Re: Plunging Oil-When to Bite?
Something that bothers me about the majors is that the price of oil has fallen 50% but their share prices have budged about 10%. I personally think there is more to be made in the producers with a good mark cap but have fallen 50% or more.

I cannot help myself and am averaging in on that falling knife, it is embedded in my hand but the more it falls and the more scary it seems i have to push the buy button. Will let you know in a couple of years how i have done.

I noticed martin armstrong today had a post of a possible drop until may. I might put a short on.

My brother, British citizen, lives in Sofia and loves it. He has been there getting on for 8 or 9 years now. income tax is 10%, pay bribes if caught speeding, nice people, affordable, black sea, skiing, can drive to Instanbul or Greece, cheap airlines to anywhere in Europe etc. You can be pretty fre...

Re: How much do you keep in cash in a regular bank account?
Far too much cash because I am coming to the PP now with stocks at an all time high and bond yields itching to go higher soon. The only thing I can force myself to buy is gold and silver shares/miners. The bond market is due a rate spike sooner or later, so why bother for a few %. I would rather hav...

Re: How much do you spend a month?
I never give to charity, like ever, ever. In the UK, where I am originally from, there is scandal after scandal about the majority of funds been used to pay administrators huge salaries and only small amounts trickling down to those who need it. We sponsored a girls education in Africa once and she ...

My brother spends even more, I asked today, about 10k a month but he has huge alimony. Tough life being the bread winner.

How much do you spend a month?
Just had a fight with the wife about our spending :) 3 young kids, 2 adults, no mortgage and we average 6.5k euro spend per month for the last 2 months. I would say the average is closer to 5k a month as we had some insurances to pay. Pretty amazing as this is with no treats apart from a weekend in ...

Re: PP or Buy a new House
Where I live, house insurance about 550 USD house insurance and my property taxes are about 200 USD a year. My friend in Florida, HOA fees were about 6k a year, insurances were about 2k per year and about 10k property taxes. That is what an average bod earns near enough where I live :) I do like the...

Re: Miners and explorers bottomed? or another head fake?
I am averaging in now, when it goes there are going to be some 10 baggers. Look at the link below and then go and look at a chart of silver. See any correlation? I think gold has more to go than silver to shake the truly faithful out, IMO we are entering the final phase that will crush people that h...

Re: PP or Buy a new House
You can look at a house as an investment if you buy in a down market and your horizon is long enough. We got a cracking deal on a 5 bed villa in Spain where there is a huge oversupply. It was half lifestyle and half a business decision. We can get a 10% return by doing short lets, that is my day job...

Re: European PP: Investing in U.S. stocks too?
I cashed out a lot of euros @ 135.50 on the advice of Martin Armstrong. That was a nice trade so far. I have started buying US/CAD mining stocks now with the proceeds as I can smell the bottom in the next few months. Much prefer the US market but will buy anything anywhere if I think it is cheap and...

Re: Ready for Some Good News???
Waiting for the opportune time to allocate investments to the portfolio may not surface during our lifetime. Have you considered investing in all assets equally and holding additional cash to limit draw-downs? I am certain this approach has crossed your mind more than once, so what is preventing yo...

Does anyone here read martin armstrong? He is a pretty amazing forecaster using history and his ecm computer model. Basically gold is still in a bear and could end sub 1000 this year but in 2015 soverign defaults will really make gold shine again. Japan, france first. This will be good for the usd b...

Re: When you make a purchase....
Market timing is for the VP. If you feel the desire to do this, why not set up a PP in your VP and try it there? Then in a year or two you see see what difference in performance, if any, was actually observed. I suspect the difference will be minuscule at best. It's funny but everytime I read a pos...

You will lose. If I started again I would use the daily chart with preset stop losses and tp. If you have screens open all day you will do something stupid and tinker until you break your own rules.

AS for PP I am still on the fence. I am not sure it is the opportune time with the Stock market so high and bond yields so low. The only asset class that looks OK now is gold and cash. The point of the PP is that you don't need to market time. At any point in history some of the components are goin...

Re: Error : 100% in one BROKER
I have the same issues as the OP. Brokers in Europe are insured up to 100k eur. If you have 1 million to invest it is a real headache, it would be prudent to have as many as 5 brokers from an insured standpoint but terrible from a login/allocation/management point of view. The good part I think tho...

Re: Montauk Credit Union Offering 5 yr. CD Rate of 2.50%
I think what might actually happen would be something similar to the Cyprus bank "bail in" - where deposits up to some fairly small limit (say $50,000) are honored and amounts above that (capped at the FDIC limit of $250,000) are turned into some class of shares of stock in the bank. This...
