Re: John Bogle and SS
Suppose in the future there's one doctor in the country, and millions of old people who all need medical services. How about we not suppose that since it's nonsense. Regardless of how many billions of dollars these people have saved, there simply isn't enough medical care to go around (and it will ...

Re: Recession Mode
If ever the future was in question, it is now. There are so many unbelievable uncertanties happening within the global economic system that I dont know what else to do than PP. For me these are... 1. Demographic changes.. 2. Resource/ ecological challenges 3. Job stealing robotic innovation 4. High...

Re: The future of health care?
I went without health insurance for me and my daughter for a couple of years and I discovered that as long as I was dealing one-on-one with a doctor, the cash price was always significantly lower than the insurance price. Just one example - a vaccination that cost $75 if you had insurance only cost ...

I mean doesn't the Panama Canal alone make you wonder as to whether government actually CAN be a force for productive gain? In 1914 no less? Or landing a man on the moon in the 1960's? I mean have you seen shit from the '60's? Interesting etymology of the term "good enough for government wo...

Just going by what it says in wikipedia for what it's worth......Ad Orientem wrote: I'm pretty sure that $782 Billion was the entire TARP not what Goldman borrowed.

Re: I hope you get these right!
The fact that the national average is slightly more than 50% is pretty scary.
A few years ago I might not have known about the inverse correlation between bond prices and yields but the rest of it was pretty simple stuff.

Re: A Bond Market Plunge That Baffles the Experts [sic]
From the article... “It may take 50 years, but rates are going to go higher... He said the simplest and safest approach is simply to park funds in a low-volatility money market fund and accept near-zero returns. From the president and CEO of Goldman Sachs, a company which, BTW, borrowed $782 billion...

Hmmmm. I thought the idea was to capture the gains, selling high and buying low.Reub wrote: MT said: "If my stock allocation was currently at 34%, I would be very tempted to rebalance now."
Or you could leave it alone and it might rebalance back down to 25% all by itself!![]()

Re: What % of your PP gold is physical?
Fidelity will allow gold American Eagle 1-oz coins in the IRA, according to the rep I talked with. They will store at .125% per quarter fee. Coins are stored in Fidelity's name, however. Insurance and storage info is in the fine print on their gold, silver and precious metals page. My take on th...
