Fidelity will allow gold American Eagle 1-oz coins in the IRA, according to the rep I talked with.  They will store at .125% per quarter fee.  Coins are stored in Fidelity's name, however.  Insurance and storage info is in the fine print on their gold, silver and precious metals page. I called Fidelity for more info--here's what I've got: Gold spot price was $1,399.50 at end of the day.  Fidelity's window closes at 3:00p.m. Their price for a 1 oz American Eagle today was $1,453.  I'm assuming the commission on top of that (2.5% in band above $10,000) of $29.06 for total cost of $...
