Interestingly, the Permanent Portfolio Fund, PRPFX, has real estate exposure, one of its notable deviations (along with Swiss Francs and silver) from the HBPP. As of this writing, PRPFX is down 13.83% YTD.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Sure we still get colds, and that might be what you have.
If you have unusual fatigue that comes and goes over the next couple of weeks, that would suggest Covid to me.

I doubt they hate women, at least not specifically. They are just very messed up and are acting out to make spectacles of it all.

I Shrugged has a nice new avatar that looks like it might be from ‘V for Vendetta’. And of course it is reminiscent of a certain recent Biden State of the Union address.

I used to use a V avatar (Hugo Weaving, main character) on other forums.
I’m glad you got it!

Re: PP YTD performance - was it the worst ever?

You pays your money and you takes your chances. In 40 years I've had three different investing plans. Each time I learned and studied and moved on. If you have decided that this one is not going to work out, it's time to figure out the next one.

But, sometimes it's just random.

Re: Gold will rise when Fed stops raising interest rates?

I guess I am trying to say that if we could count on gold to behave on cue, then that is already baked into the price. But you can't. It's something of value that occasionally goes up nicely. I think the saying about gold is that it takes the escalator down, but the elevator up.

Coach Mike Dikta said, "Living in the past is for losers and cowards." (Hey, it's football season.)

I have some neanderthal DNA. Maybe I can start a movement for reparations.

Re: Ivermectin Report

Yeah, I remember seeing that Japan was doing some studies on ivermectin, but I haven't seen the results yet. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with. And by the way, I forgot to say: Glad you're feeling better! The more I look at stuff, the more I see politically-motivated interpretation...

Re: Gold will rise when Fed stops raising interest rates?

But if not, HB had some insight which applied to this. Namely that you can't count on markets to repeat the reactions of past history, because people adapt. The gold market has changed so much over the past two decades that I don't think you can predict how it will behave. Agreed 100 percent. How h...

The first hit I got on Frontline Doctors was news that the founder had been sentenced to prison for his role in the capitol riot. Re: Ivermectin Report

It seems clear that Ivermectin is quite safe when taken at reasonable dosages. The question has always been whether it's effective against Covid. Most studies I've seen have shown that it is not, but I'm quite open to contrary evidence. I saw this study a couple months ago: https://www.nejm.org/doi...

Re: Gold will rise when Fed stops raising interest rates?

I gave up trying to figure it out. The whole market tries to figure it out, and that gives us the price. That sounds more negative than I mean it to be. :) Unless the price is rigged as GATA claims. Yes. :) But if not, HB had some insight which applied to this. Namely that you can't count on market...

To add, I didn't make very clear that each day, until I've taken it, I have felt some degree of crappy. Better each day but still crappy. Then by mid morning, after it must have kicked in, I'm feeling a helluva lot better. Three straight days like that.

Ivermectin Report

I'm taking Ivermectin. :) A week ago today, out of the blue I had a LOT of post nasal (down the throat) sinus drainage and my throat was getting sore and swollen feeling. Now that I think about it, I had noticed some of that drainage in the two days prior, but figured it was allergies. But last Wedn...
