Re: Quiet board - time to buy?

Harry had thoughts on it, and as usual he turned out to be right. What does BND give you that you can’t get from a treasury fund with the duration of your choice? A little yield I guess. But the safety margin is not as good with BND.

Re: Quiet board - time to buy?

BND is an all-bond index. I would say you are playing with fire, compared to a treasuries fund. Please look at what happened to corporate bonds in 08-09. Treasuries were the right answer then, and will be in the foreseeable future. I'm speaking from painful experience. When the time comes that treas...

Good timing for you two. I've never been able to sell at the top.
I think it has higher tops ahead. Probably not in the short term though. I wonder if this drop is due to profit-taking by Wall St.

I’m always bearish. If I followed my instincts, I’d have sold everything a long time ago. That’s why I like the PP so much.

Everyone: Predictions?

A month ago $5000 would have sounded goofy. Now it seems like it will happen by the end of this month.

What quote symbols are out there for spot gold or a facsimile thereof? On the iOS Stocks app, which looks like it uses Yahoo Finance, I have to use GC=F. I think it's the expiring gold futures contract price. On some quote sites, there is XAU= , which is actually a spot quote. I think I read that GC...

Agreed. And perhaps Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.

I recently engaged with a lefty ex-co-worker I'm friends with on a similar topic. I don't think they are interested in prosperity, only in equality. They would rather live in a shithole where everyone is poor than tolerate the billionaires who create the stuff they use on a daily basis. I’m finally...

It's religious opposition. When they start talking about tinfoil hats, whiskey and bullets, etc., you know they cannot be reached.

CJ, years of austerity won’t be undertaken voluntarily. They will try to kick this down the road forever. Inflation is their only hope to get out of debt.

I’m so bad at market timing, so take this for what you paid for it. Gold is going a lot higher. Maybe not soon. But it has to.

ETFs in taxable are a PITA because most of them are setup as trusts, and trust expenses are not allowed to be part of your cost basis. In the past, some machines just weren’t Linux friendly, even if you had a proper ISO file. Macs were especially hard, while PCs have been more friendly. I think that’s why I gave up on Fedora: I wanted to put it on my old Mac mini. I learned that Fedora could work on that specific model and made th...
