Re: BTC in the PP
Thanks for the thought dumps in the last couple of posts. I enjoyed the reads. 425's post left me thinking about why would it be Bitcoin that people save in? I can only think of it as a last ditch effort for savings in a country where you have no legal rights to your savings. The better options in c...

Re: Why Value?
I looked at value funds really hard and couldn't bring myself to believe in them. I think for a value fund to continuously work it would have to be a highly active fund. From what I could remember, all of the historical out performance is based on indexes that were not actual funds during the out pe...

Re: BTC in the PP
Wow 15%. I am glad it paid off. That would scare me too much with its volatility. 1 or 2% is still about all I think I could stomach but it wouldn't really make any difference at that level so still not in it.

Interesting. I don't know that I watched it completely but from what I saw, his intelligence is what I noticed more than anything. The next thing I was shocked by is that he hasn't even spoken to Biden since the conflict started. https://www.rev.com/blog/transcripts/tucker-carlson-interviews-vladimi...

Thank you for the reminder of intermittent fasting. This has been a game changer for me. Re: Who's putting cash in tax free accounts?
I have also thought about this conundrum and took cash out of Roth accounts. I now just do three equal parts of stocks, gold and intermediate bonds in Roth and traditional retirement accounts. Then save in only cash outside of retirement accounts. It ends up being balanced enough for me. If somehow ...

I kind of do 33 x 3 but use a total bond fund more like an intermediate bond fund. I also save cash separately.

Re: I do not undestand the theory behind international PP at all
I expect total world stock and bond funds are more popular in other countries outside of USA. Total world options are almost non existent in the US. If I was outside of the US and wanted to stay there I think I would hold some local cash and then split in thirds total world stock, total world bonds ...

Tempting, but I dunno if I trust "anti-ethical" managers to not front-run their index ;) I probably missed your reference about the managers but I wouldn't have any fear of them front running the fund. The reason I found the fund is because it uses the same index provider that the zero ex...

So like bogglerdude said, You already own Reits in a stock fund so no reason to overweight them.

Here is a reasonable non-esg sp 500 ETF: STRV Strive 500 ETF https://www.strivefunds.com/strv I came across it just recently by accident and found out it is co-founded by Vivek Ramaswamy. I can't argue. I am thankful for GLDM and IAUM. I am happy enough to split between the two to balance some risk and to support them both.

I know how I have seen small cap value indexes have out performed the market but is there an actual small cap value fund that was able to out perform? Maybe you could say DFSTX has but barely as of lately. I don't necessarily think it will continue but it looks like the time to move to small cap val...

Sorry Smith. I did just buy some more earlier in the week going to 33/33/33 stocks/intermediate bonds/gold in retirement accounts so the gold portion worked out nicely.

Re: The Bond Market Sweet Spot
Kevin had me second guessing gold in this thread but after the news out of Israel today I believe it still has a place as the chaos asset. The option I have been using for bonds is GOVT. It is a total us treasury fund similar to a total bond fund that holds all the maturities based on market cap. Lo...
