I probably haven't seen what that something is that you are referring to.
I would think other presidents and officials would have also taken work home so I figure it has to be more than that. I can't even speculate what would cause this need.

This isn't really political but I believe a part of this act.
It looks like there will good incentive for all the big stock buyback companies to become dividend stocks.

Yes. AVUV has had quite the run and it is impressive how quickly it has increased it's assets under management. It is almost as big as SLYV now. https://etfdb.com/etfdb-category/small-cap-value-equities/ Maybe it will continue to outperform but it is definitely market timing and history tells us it ...

That makes it easier having only one value fund option. I became more discouraged as I reviewed value funds. They all have their own little way to try to market time. I decided I don't like the stress of picking the best fund. I sympathize with ochotona on RSP but would rather just use FZROX with 0 ...

One credit union is listing 4% for 5 year cd.
https://www.depositaccounts.com/cd/5-year-cd-rates.html
At some point these rates start looking really tasty.
4% is 40k income per year on 1m deposit.

Jalanlong, do you like gold as an investment or just cash? Here is an idea to help simplify that I have been thinking of for myself. Pick an amount you want to put in retirement accounts and buy large stock and gold funds in it as automated as possible. Cheapest index fund you have available for sto...

Re: Are most people here sticking with Treasuries?
Thankfully I had given up on long treasuries awhile ago but did also miss the 2020 gains. I consider EE bonds a better option for deflation protection. It was a better rate of return previously but is about the same now with 20 year bonds getting to over 3.5 recently. The EE bond gives you the optio...

Re: Is the stick a dying art?
I feel like this topic has come up here before. Seems like there is some sort of correlation with manual transmissions and the permanent portfolio. My daily driver has been a manual transmission since I was 18. I fear there will be a day you can't buy one new any longer. It has nothing to do with pe...

Here is to hoping the end of shortages is near. I saw this video and found this article https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lkbuqkul5k https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/how-china-became-ground-zero-auto-chip-shortage-2022-07-18/ Apparently there is a lot of hoarding going on with ho...

It looks like their basis is what has been feared. Lower bond yields will mean lower future returns. Something interesting I found poking around their website, they have a couple of recommended portfolios they let you view. I hate gold but still haven't found anything to replace it.
I would love to be able to just swap it for something like a total international fund but it just doesn't perform the same historically.

.05 percent of 1 million would only be 500 but that is still a lot when you think about how little income you are earning from the etf.
If you earned $20,000, $500 would be 2.5% of your income you earned from the fund.

One thing I just picked up from a random walk down wall street regarding dividends. It is actually preferred for a company to buy back shares instead of distributing dividends because you pay less tax on capital gains versus dividends. I don't have proof right now but I expect it is now rare for a c...

I have come to categorize Bitcoin as just another single stock I shoulda coulda bought. Just like an Amazon, Apple, Tesla stock.
I believe I saw someone else mention this here. If Bitcoin does become something bigger, then owning the stock market will have you invested enough in it.

Cash is my favorite asset as well. I guess it is the at least you know your nominal return factor of it. Just make sure you have at least 25% stocks according to Ben Graham https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Graham_75-25_rule And 20% gold according to belangp https://gyroscopicinvesting.com/forum/viewt...
