Re: Inflation

In some ways does it feel like a lot of artificial inflation is being created? Labor shortage created by extended unemployment benefits. Gas shortage from pipeline outage. Car shortage from lack of rental cars and microchip production. Who knows what is going on with lumber but from what I understan...

Re: Rebalancing into more LTT

I love thinking up a contrarian: If the Fed isn't buying LTT to make a profit, the better thing may be to pretend those LTT don't exist exist. They will be holding forever I assume so they won't be causing price moves now that they have them. Here is a paradox, if the treasury only issued the amount...

Bubble getting bigger. I saw someone offer crypto classes on nextdoor which is a neighbor hood social media site.

That must mean all the old housewives will be trading crypto soon.

Re: Jeff Booth on deflation

I guess what struck me is his points about the deflation being caused from globalization and technology and how much stimulus is going to be needed to stem off deflation. Pretty much what we have been seeing over last year. I guess I had in my mind was that most of our deflation was lack of new loan...

Re: Gold in IRA accounts

Collectibles..... So if I am reading that correct, you can convert your traditional IRA to dogecoin pay tax on your distribution plus 10% penalty and then not have to pay tax on your to the moon profits? Edit: nevermind I read it again and you only don't pay tax on the amount you already paid tax on...

Re: Gold in IRA accounts

So sounds you can have bullion in your possession legally but probably not worth doing that yourself as a layman. What is weird is the other collectables. It is almost like they are forcing you to do Roth conversion on your artwork since you don't pay tax when you sell but you still have to pay 10% ...

Re: TreasuryDirect 0% certificate of indebtedness as alternative to MMFs

Sounds like a potential loop hole if rates go negative and they leave it in place. I would rather have FDIC high rate savings at .5 % than the zero rate treasury direct and also FDIC instead of money market for that matter. Sounds like these funds are outside of retirement account so you have better...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Restrictions do seem to be disappearing where I am at.

Seems like it is happening without any big announcement. Probably so it doesn't cause any stir from the critics.

Last few places I went you have more like 10% of the people wearing a mask. So the masked person is now the odd one out.

Re: Inflation

I am hoping the vehicle inflation is temporary. Used vehicle prices seem to be up around 20%. I am hoping that it was an artificially induced shortage causing it. 2.5 million less new cars sold in 2020 and now I understand they don't have microchips they need for new vehicles. https://www.statista.c...

100 years you might need a sliver of international equities in there. 100 years also makes you realize the value of gold. Simple thing would be 50% in VTWAX Total world stock market, 25% in intermediate treasuries (a non hedged global government bond fund would be interesting here but I don't think ...

If it gives them the competitive advantage then they will for sure. Sounds kind of scary. Like a terminator movie where AI has become all of our bosses. Re: How Baseball Cards Explain What Bitcoin Really Is

I didn't finish the whole article but collectibles does sound like a good description for Bitcoin, precious metals and baseball cards.

I would prefer my money to be as stable as possible for daily needs. The dollar does this pretty darn well in that sense.

Re: Housing prices

I was looking at current mortgage rates out of curiosity and was surprised to see they are almost still at all time lows. The only thing that makes sense to me is that these mortgages are just being arbitraged to the federal reserve since they know they are buying them. When i put in $350k house wit...

This must mean the PP's time to shine is soon. Sentiment is so low for gold and bonds. I too am having a harder time stomaching it while also just wanting to simplify. If you are still accumulating then just leave what you have in place and just put new contributions in preferred assets. That is my ...
