Re: iBonds / TreasuryDirect

I moved my money from Vanguard to bank so it will be there on Monday. What is the final thought here on buying in October or November? What I think I've seen predicted is that the calculated inflation rate will be lower and the fixed rate will likely be slightly lower Which sounds reasonable I boug...

PRPFX really isn't really PP -- if it's currently getting 0.58%, that's a LOT lower than current PP, which is closer to 3% If using Vanguard Mutual Funds as a simple implementation: Cash (Treasury MM - VUSXX): 5.28% LTT (VLGSX) : 4.52% SP 500 (VFIAX): 1.26% Gold (IAU): 0% Add and divide by four: 2.7...

Definitely Cash And, quite happy with them -- didn't lose value; returns spiked during high inflation, don't pay taxes until redeem, no state taxes -- good stuff! I don't have that much in I-Bonds, so, selling low fixed rate bonds and buying at the current 1.3% fixed rate (yeah, the current composit...

Re: Bought my ibond allocation

A few days ago I did receive my $5,000 in iBonds purchased from my tax return e-filed on April 14, 2024. This time it was only one $5,000 bond. In the past there have been several to many bonds in different denominations to compose the $5,000. It was dated April 29, 2024. That means I got it under ...

Re: Putin Invades Ukraine II

It has been said that if Israel takes out Iran’s drone facility in its anticipated response, this will degrade Russia’s ability to use drones against Kyiv. Wouldn’t mind seeing that. Well, looks like only removing the drones / missles that Iran shot at Israel Still, that's at least some that can't ...

And the final 1 May 2024 tally: * 1.3% Fixed rate * 4.28% composite rate So, it worked out to buy in April I'll likely sell more of my 0% fixed rate I-Bond (2.98%) and put into T-Bills / Treasury Money Market for now (~5.3%) Then put back into I-Bonds a bit later -- some likely around November / som...

I just sold some 0% fixed rate I-Bonds and bought new ones at 1.3% (Fixed rate at 1.3% through the end of April) Per one YouTube video I say, the fixed rate likely to be slightly lower May 1 And, figued 1.3% is better than my 0%, even with the 3 month interest penalty for selling before 5 years are up

Overall, if I hadn't applied PP aspects to my retirement portfolio starting in 2012 (never been full PP), if I'd stayed the course, I'd have had higher returns. If I'd gone the other way and 100% into S&P 500, I'd have done even better Of course, I wouldn't have slept as well, might not have sta...

Re: New I-Bond Rate for 5/1/23 to 10/31/23

What's the way to think about using I-Bonds if the yield dips significantly below T-Bills? Well, I don't have that much in I-Bonds (have more in T-Bills / Money Markets) So, I'll likely not add; rollover older than May 2023 I-Bonds to higher fixed rate ones as it makes sense. Stay the course to hav...
